Earl Clausen

April 7, 1951 — February 7, 2014

Earl Christian Clausen was born on April 7, 1951, the son of Marius and Vivian Elaine (Jensen) Clausen in Audubon, Iowa, and passed away Friday, February 7, 2014, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.

He lived in Exira and graduated from the Exira High School in 1969. After high school, Earl farmed with his father in Audubon County. He was also employed at Plowman Trenching in Adair for 25 years and then as a right of way maintainer driver for the Department of Transportation until his retirement.

Earl married Margaret Grimes December 21, 1974, at the Adair Methodist Church. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Adair.

Earl loved farming the land and caring for the animals. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, bowling, golfing and listening to all kinds of music.

Earl was very involved with his grandchildren. He would hold them for hours as they napped or while they watched old movies together. Earl was proud to be called "Papa".

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marius and Vivian Clausen; his infant sister, Joann Clausen; and his brothers, Robert Clausen and Henry Clausen.

Earl is survived by his wife, Margaret Clausen of Adair; his son, Jeffery (Rachel) Clausen of Atlantic; his daughter, Michelle Clausen of Adair; his grandchildren, Logan, Christian and Amber Clausen of Atlantic and Colton Clausen of Adair; his sisters, Barbara Haskins of Omaha, NE, Betty (Milo) Cress of Lincoln, NE and Janet (Al) Arendt of Valley Springs, SD; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Monday, February 10, 2014, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Adair, Iowa.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 11, 2014, also at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Adair, Iowa.

Memorials may be made in Earl's memory to the Hospice of your choice.
