Edith Collette Berg, the daughter of John H. and Amanda Jane Rush Kennedy, was born February 3, 1919 in Audubon, Iowa and died June 26, 2008 at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 89 years, 4 months, and 23 days.
Edith was baptized and became a member of the First Christian Church in Audubon. She attended Audubon Public Schools graduating with the High School Class of 1937. Edith then taught rural school in Shelby County for three years.
On June 1, 1940 she was united in marriage to John C. Berg at Ediths sisters home in Harlan, Iowa. While John was serving in the Army Air Corps, Edith operated the City Dairy which they had owned for several years. They sold the dairy in 1946. Edith then worked at Solveys Dress Shop in Audubon for several years. In 1958 they purchased a farm in Conway, Arkansas. They operated a dairy on the farm for sixteen years then fed cattle until they retired in 1993. They sold their farm in Arkansas and returned to reside in Audubon. John died January 25, 1995. Since that time Edith has continued to live in and enjoy her home in Audubon.
Edith had been a member of the First Christian Church in Audubon and was a member of the Christian Church in Conway. She also was a member of the Garden Club in Audubon.
Preceding her in death in addition to her husband, were her parents; her sister and brothers: Mary and husband Floyd Fiscus, Con Kennedy, and John R. Kennedy; her sisters-in-laws: Meta Wilson, and Margaret Smith; and her brothers-in law Alfred Winther and John A. Hansen.
Survivors include her sisters-in-law: Elsie Hansen and Marie Winther both of Audubon, Iowa and Rosie Kennedy of Modesto, California; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon.

A Memorial Celebration of Life Service will be conducted by Pastor Steven Frock on Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon.rn
