Edna Clair May, the daughter of Benjamin F. and Maude ( ) Kreamer, was born February 28, 1919, in Griswold, Iowa and died September 2, 2011, at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Colorado Springs, Colorado at the age of 92 years, 6 months, and 4 days. Edna attended rural schools near Griswold and then graduated from the Exira High School. On June 1, 1937, she was united in marriage to Chester V. May in Harlan, Iowa. They farmed east of Hamlin, Iowa in Melville Township, Audubon County for many years until they moved to Colorado Springs in 1972. Chester died February 19, 1984. Edna lived at home until she later moved to the Good Samaritan Home. She enjoyed hiking and the outdoors. She was a Methodist by faith. Edna was preceded in death by her husband Chester; her parents; two sisters Kathleen Kreamer and Elva Wolf; and her brother Frank Kreamer. Survivors include her son Philip and wife Betty May of Elbert, Colorado; her grandchildren Kelly and husband Tim Valdez of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Shawn May of Elbert; her great grandchildren Kalie and Gabriel Valdez of Colorado Springs, and Logan May of Elbert; her sisters Mona Norris of Needham, Massachusetts and Enid Jensen of Hebron, Nebraska; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Cemetery:
Inurnment will be in the Exira Cemetery in Exira, Iowa.
Service:
Celebration of Life Memorial Services will be held Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Exira.
