Edna Mae Crawley, the daughter of Roy and Ellen Jones Young, was born June 14, 1940, at her parents’ home in Oakfield, Iowa and died June 17, 2014, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, Iowa at the age of 74 years, and 3 days. Edna was baptized and confirmed at the Brayton Lutheran Church in Brayton, Iowa. She attended Oakfield Academy in Oakfield, Iowa and then attended the Exira High School in Exira, Iowa. On August 5, 1956, she was united in marriage to Harley Jesse Crawley at the Christian Church in Audubon, Iowa. Six children were born to this union. They lived in Brayton, Iowa and during the summers she detassled corn. Later they rented several area farms before purchasing their home north of Oakfield. Edna helped Harley farm raising all types of livestock and growing row crops. Edna always had a large vegetable garden and enjoyed canning all the produce. She was a wonderful cook and always enjoyed feeding a crowd of people on Sundays. Edna was a caregiver for her family and friends and cared for her brothers and other family members. Harley died January 3, 2004. Edna enjoyed her home where she has continued to live. Edna was a member of the Brayton Lutheran Church in Brayton. Edna loved pets including cats and dogs. She loved dancing, bird watching, drives in the country and always looked forward to spring. Edna is preceded in death by her husband Harley J. Crawley; her grandson Kristopher “Lil Bear” Crawley; her parents; her brothers and sisters: Roy Young; Martha and husband Joe Burns; Robert Young; Charlie Young; Francis and wife Alice Young; Glen Young; Lloyd Young; Gene Young; and Andy Young. Survivors include her children: James Crawley of Hamlin, Iowa; Patrick and wife Bertha Crawley of Atlantic, Iowa; Annette and husband Steve Christensen of Audubon, Iowa; Allen and wife Deborah Crawley of Waynesville, Missouri; Michael John and wife Becky Crawley of Burwell, Nebraska; Brent Crawley and fiancé Bobbi Marie Brittain of Brayton, Iowa; 21 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; her sisters-in-law: Shirley Van Deventnor of Adel, Iowa; Jane and husband Max Marion of Peru, Iowa; and Jeanette Young of Bondurant, Iowa; many niece, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Visitation:
The family will meet friends Saturday morning at 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the Kessler Funeral Home in Exira.
Service:
Funeral services will be Saturday, June 21, 2014, at 11:00 A.M. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Exira, Iowa.
