Edward L. Rhoades, 65, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Thursday, February 14, 2008, at the Atlantic Nursing and Rehab Center.
Edward Lee Rhoades was born on March 4, 1942, in Corning, Missouri, the son of Albert Andrew and Susie Dee (Bettinger) Rhoades.
He worked on the railroad in Burlington, Missouri, for one year, was a CNA at St. Jospeh's Hospital in St. Joseph, Missouri, for 3 years, and worked in a box factory in Fairfax, Missouri, for four years. Edward then moved to Yelm, Washington, where he was employed by a wood fabrication factory before moving to Atlantic, Iowa.
Edward is survived by his daughter, Emily Fogleman of Yelm, Washington; grandchildren, Hunter and Hayden Fogleman; his sisters, Leola M. Bartlett, Bertha J. Fudge, Martha C. Dixon, and Elfa V. Rhoades; his brothers, David L. (Dana Boyd) Rhoades and Frances M. (Michael Crider) Rhoades; and many nieces and nephews.
Edward is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Susie; his sisters, Creata F. Walker, Ruth V. Rhoades, and Betty M. Rhoades; his brothers, Jasper D. Rhoades and Albert L. Rhoades.
A combined benefit and memorial potluck dinner for Edward and his brother, Albert, will be held at 5:00 p.m., Sunday, February 24, 2008, at the Eagles Lodge in Atlantic.
Cremation has taken place and no visitation is scheduled.
Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic, Iowa, is assisting with arrangements.
