Edward B. "Ned" Rutledge, age 65, of Warsaw, Missouri, passed away peacefully Friday, February 22, 2013, at his home surrounded by family and friends. He was born on December 20, 1947, in Alberta, Canada, to Foster and Rose (Susut) Rutledge.
He moved to Atlantic, Iowa, in 1953 and graduated high school there in 1966. In 1970 he began work for Farmers Mutual Hail Insurance Company of Iowa and retired in 2000 as a State Supervisor. In December 1993 he was united in marriage to Betty Teuber.
Ned was a competitive fisherman and a member of the Bass Pro Shops Crappie Masters. In 2006 he won the Mark Twain Fishing Tournament and was named Sportsmen of the year in 2011. In 2003 they purchased Bobby Garland Crappie Baits and then sold the wholesale portion and created CrappieTown to carry on the Bobby Garland legend in retail.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Rutledge; eight children, Kelly Rutledge Ohman (Dave), of North Carolina, Brandon Rutledge, of Illinois, Carrie Rutledge, of California, Ashley Rutledge and Tyler Rutledge, both of Oregon, Steve Furlong and Jenny Furlong, both of Minnesota and Scott Furlong, of Wisconsin; four grandchildren, Dominic Ignacio, Georgia Ignacio, Trinity Rutledge, Angel Jaenke and Hunter Jaenke; his parents, Foster and Rose Rutledge, of Des Moines, Iowa; one sister, Candy Rutledge and a brother, Perry Rutledge, both of Las Vegas, NV; other relatives and many friends.
Combined services for Ned and his father, Foster, are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 16, 2013, at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic, Iowa.
Visitation will take place at the lunch after the memorial service.
