Einar Kenneth Madsen, the son of Hans and Sophie Lauritzen Madsen, was born November 10, 1920, at his parents home in Sharon Township, Audubon County, Iowa and died September 22, 2009, at the Friendship Home in Audubon, Iowa at the age of 88 years, 10 months, and 12 days.
Einar was baptized at Ebenezer Lutheran Church west of Audubon and confirmed at Our Saviours Lutheran Church in Audubon. He attended rural school in Cameron Township in Audubon County. He helped his father operate the family farm. In 1948 he farmed for Clarence Lauritsen.
On January 6, 1949, he was united in marriage to Dorothy E. Kauffman at Our Saviours Lutheran Church in Audubon. Three children Kenneth, Kathleen and Terry were born to this union. They lived on and operated a farm in Melville Township, Audubon County, for 56 years where he raised crops and livestock. Dorothy died December 27, 2002. Einar farmed for another year, then moved to the Friendship Home in Audubon in November of 2004 due to health reasons.
Einar was a member of Our Saviours Lutheran Church in Audubon and a member of the Farm Bureau. Einar loved farming and worked hard all his life, providing for his family. Einar enjoyed other people and loved to chat and visit with his friends and family.
Preceding him in death in addition to his wife were his son Kenny Madsen; his parents; his sister Leona and husband Glen Fulton; his brother Emmert Madsen; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Becky Madsen, Barb Madsen, Russell Kauffman, Ollivene and husband Allison Deist; his nieces and nephews: Harold Madsen, Jr., Mary Jane Spangler, Robert Plagman, and Roger Winther; great-grand nieces: Carissa Madsen and Rebecca Ann Madsen.
Survivors include his children: Kathy and Brian Jensen of Hamlin, IA; and Terry and Karen Madsen of Whittier, CA; his grandchildren: Shelby Kate Jensen of Ames, IA; Tyler Hans and Michelle Madsen; Lindsey Josephine Madsen, all of Whittier; his brothers: Harold and Betty Madsen of Glidden, IA; Alton Madsen; Maynard and Rose Madsen; H. Leo and Janice Madsen, all of Audubon; his sister-in-law Alice Kauffman of Audubon; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon.
Visitation:
The family will meet friends Thursday evening at 6:00 at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon.
Service:
Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Christopher Martin on Friday, September 25, 2009 at 10:30 A.M. at Our Saviours Lutheran Church in Audubon, IA.
