Elaine Beulah Owen

Elaine Beulah Owen, the daughter of Sam and Anna (Pedersen) Hansen, was born January 25, 1926, at her parents’ home in Audubon County, Iowa and died November 27, 2018, at the Spurgeon Manor in Dallas Center, Iowa at the age of 92 years, 10 months, and 2 days.
Elaine was baptized and confirmed at the First Presbyterian Church in Audubon. She attended rural school in Audubon County then graduated from the Viola High School with the Class of 1944. She then was employed at the canning factory in Audubon for a short time.
On November 16, 1945, she was united in marriage to August W. Owen in Denison, Iowa. They were blessed with one daughter Dianne. Elaine had her own cleaning service and cleaned houses for several local families for many years. Auggie died January 28, 1987. Elaine attended a training course at Southwest Iowa Community College in Creston, Iowa and learned to be a Home Health Care Aide. She worked for Audubon County Public Health for many years until she retired. Elaine lived in Audubon then moved to Dallas Center to be near her daughter Dianne.
Elaine was a member of the First Prebyterian Church in Audubon and was a member of the Presbyterian Women. She was a life time member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary. She was a member of several card clubs and loved to play bingo. She enjoyed cooking and baking. During the holidays she would make goody plates for her special friends. Elaine enjoyed talking with people but most of all she loved being with her family. She just simply loved life.
Preceding her in death was her husband August W. Owen; her son-in-law: Roger Lundgren; her parents; her brothers and sisters, infant brother Harold Hansen, Elizabeth Hansen, John and wife Elsie Hansen, Emmertt and wife Audrey Hansen, and Hank Hansen; her brother-in-law August Leader; her half brother-in-law George Owen; and her step sister-in-law Lucille and husband Leonard Wiges.
Elaine is survived by her daughter Dianne Lundgren of Dallas Center, Iowa; her grandsons, Chris and wife Monica Sortedahl of Fort Dodge, Iowa, and Clint and wife Lisa Sortedahl of Fort Dodge; her great grandchildren: Alex Sortedahl, Colton Sortedahl, Clay Sortedahl, and Ava Sortedahl all of Fort Dodge; her great great grandchildren: Kayden, Sophia, and Ella; her sister Martha Leader; her brother-in-law Bernard and wife Bessie Owen of Audubon, Iowa; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family will meet with friends on Friday, November 30, 2018, from 4:30 P.M. to 6:30 P.M. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon. Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Kelley Pedersen on Saturday, December 1, 2018, at 10:30 A.M. at the First Presbyterian Church in Audubon. Interment will be in the Arlington Heights Cemetery in Audubon. The casket bearers will be George Owen, Dr. James, Cunningham, Michael Cunningham, Matthew Cunningham, Charles Hansen, and Doug Hilsabeck.
