Elaine Naomi Jensen

Elaine Naomi Jensen, the daughter of Lars J. and Amalie Jeppesen Christiansen was born September 13, 1929 at her parents home north of Kimballton, Iowa and died January 20, 2011 at the Audubon County Memorial Hospital at the age of 81 years, 4 months and 7 days.
Elaine was baptized and confirmed at the Bethany Lutheran Church northeast of Kimballton. She attended rural school near Hamlin, Iowa and then graduated from the Gray Community Schools with the Class of 1948. Elaine was then employed at the Gray Community Schools as a secretary.
On August 7, 1948, she was united in marriage to Junior C. Jensen at the Gray United Methodist Parsonage. Five children were born to this union. Elaine worked as a cook at the Corner Station in Templeton, Iowa, as well as the Wagon Wheel and The Longbranch in Gray. She was also employed at Audubon Produce for 11 years. She then worked for the Audubon Community Schools as a custodian and bus driver, where she enjoyed being with the children, until she retired in 1992. Elaine enjoyed gardening, baking, sewing, fishing, crafts, camping and spending the winters in the warmer climate of Texas and Arizona. Elaine found great joy in the time she was able to spend with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Elaine was a member of the Gray United Methodist Church. She was the Vice President of the Gray Community Betterment Corporation and was a former member of the Gray Fire Belles. Elaine also worked on the election board, and always enjoyed helping in the Gray Community Rose Gardens. In her younger years she enjoyed getting together with her friends and neighbors for the Our Day Off (ODO) Club.
Preceding her in death in addition to her husband Junior C. Jensen were her infant grandson Jenkins; her parents; her step mother Agnes Christiansen; her brothers and sister: Irwin and wife Loretta Christiansen; Sidney and wife Delores Christiansen; Dale Christiansen; Frances and husband Henry Kissler; her brothers-in-law and sister-in-law: Virginia and husband Tom Anderson; Henry Newman and Kenneth Jensen; and her favorite dog Chloe.
Survivors include her children: Peggy Jensen of Audubon, Iowa; Lana Wiges of Hamlin, Iowa; Julie and husband Kent Hansen of Atlantic, Iowa; Brenda and husband Lony Haubrich of Manning, Iowa; Lony and wife Teresa Jensen of Casey, Iowa; her grandchildren: Bret and wife Marcy Jenkins of Tulare, California; Jesse and wife Gina Wiges of Waukee, Iowa; Chris Comes of Des Moines, Iowa; Eric and wife Brenda Hansen of Marne, Iowa; Jamie and husband Rico Moss of Grimes, Iowa; Kari and husband Mike Henn of Cheyenne, Wyoming; Jenny Haubrich and special friend Scott Lonon of Templeton, Iowa; Andrea Hansen and special friend Andy Lounsberry of Waterloo, Iowa; Nikki Jensen of DeSoto, Iowa; Paige Wiges of Hamlin; Tracy Jensen and special friend Jade Irlmeier of Casey; her great grandchildren: Hunter, Kamryn, Kaden, Ryland, Presley, Zuri, Parker, Preston,Haley, Karsyn, Caiden, Baylee and Ethan; her sister Leona Newman of Arvada, Colorado; her brothers-in-law and sister-in-law: Dean and wife Shirley Jensen of Bethel, Missouri; Larry and wife Ruth Jensen of Imperial, Missouri; Marjorie Christiansen of Rock Springs, Wyoming; her special friend Pat Hansen of Audubon, Iowa; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Gray Cemetery in Gray. A luncheon will follow the interment at the Gray Community School.

Visitation:
The family will meet with friends on Sunday afternoon from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon.

Service:
Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Lori Shannon and Pastor Jud Stover on Monday, January 24, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. at the First United Methodist Church in Audubon, Iowa.
