Elda Louise Frock, the daughter of John George Eaton and Dollie Anne (Mills) Eaton was born on February 25, 1932 in Kingman, Arizona. She died at the Exira Care Center in Exira, Iowa, on June 8, 2024, at the age of 92.
Elda attended schools in Prescott, Phoenix and Glendale, Arizona. She graduated from Glendale High School in 1950. In later years she earned an A.A. Degree in Spanish from Phoenix Community College (1981) and an A.A. Degree in Library Science from Glendale Community College (1983).
Elda was united in marriage to Marion David Frock by a Methodist minister in the hospital in Yuma, Arizona. The minister was a patient in the hospital. Two children were born to this union, a daughter, Rebecca Anne Frock and a son, Steven Ralph Frock. Following their wedding they settled into Navy housing in National City, California and later purchased a home in Chula Vista, California. Marion spent 20 years in the United States Navy. During that time they made one major move to Harbor City, California where they lived for two years before returning to their home in Chula Vista.
Over the years Elda belonged to several churches including Methodist, Lutheran and Presbyterian.
In addition to being a Navy wife and a homemaker, Elda was employed in a number of different jobs over the years. She worked as a clerk in a dime store and two different Navy Exchanges. She also worked at a Nursery School and volunteered her time as a lunch and playground monitor and a special education aide at Rosebank Elementary School in Chula Vista. She also volunteered as a Brownie and Girl Scout leader and a Cub Scout Den Mother. She later managed the Casa De Roca apartments also in Chula Vista. Elda and Marion moved back to Arizona in 1974 and purchased a home in Phoenix. After earning her A.A. degrees she went to work as an Instructional Aide at the Maryland Elementary School in Phoenix.
During their years in Phoenix Marion worked in the maintenance department for Washington High School and later for the Washington Elementary School District. With both of them working for schools they were able to take the summers off and go traveling. They covered most of the United States and parts of Canada. They started out with travel trailer and later switched to a motor home. They drove the motor home to Alaska where they stayed in Fairbanks and with the help of family members (who flew to Alaska) celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary at the Howling Dog Saloon in Fox, Alaska.
Elda is survived by her daughter Rebecca Anne Talley (Les) of Sacramento, California; her son Steven Ralph Frock (Katia) of Hamlin, Iowa; her granddaughter Tiffany Rose Kim (Byong) of Sacramento, California; her great granddaughters Kae Lin Kim and Jin Ah Kim of Sacramento, California; her sisters-in-law Ida May Bradbury of Glendale, Arizona and Phyllis Eaton; as well as her nieces and nephews Verna May Eaton of Atkins, Arkansas; Morgan Eaton (Laurie) of Naalehu, Hawaii; Renata Earles (Marty) of Grass Valley, California; Crystal Eaton Owen (Michael) of Talty, Texas; Aaron Cameron Eaton of Wills Point, Texas and Bryan Rench of Glendale, Arizona.
