Eldon Walter Borkowski, the son of Walter L. and Hilda (Borkowski) Borkowski, was born March 20, 1941, at his parents home in northwest Audubon County, Iowa and died December 11, 2010, at the Friendship Home in Audubon, Iowa at the age of 69 years, 8 months, and 21 days.
Eldon was baptized April 13, 1941, at the Trinity Lutheran Church northwest of Audubon and later confirmed on April 25, 1956, at the Trinity Lutheran Church. He attended rural school, Lincoln # 7, and Gray Consolidated School in Gray, Iowa. Eldon then helped his father farm. They raised all types of livestock and grew grain. Eldon especially enjoyed working with the livestock. He helped his father for many years and also helped other farmers. Eldon moved into Audubon with his parents and then was employed by his brother-in-law Lloyd Kelly. They dug graves and other odd jobs until Eldon retired in 2001.
He lived with and took care of his mother until she moved to the Friendship Home in Audubon. He lived at home until he moved to the Friendship Home in Audubon on December 10, 2010.
Eldon attended St Johns Lutheran Church in Audubon. He was an avid card player and especially enjoyed playing pitch. While growing up he enjoyed watching his brothers play ball and also later watching his nieces and nephews participating in sports. He enjoyed his daily trips to the coffee shop and the Chatterbox where his sister, Marlys would always fix him a nice meal. He liked to be around people and enjoyed his trips to the barber shop and just visiting with friends.
Eldon was preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents; his sisters, an infant sister, Marvel Borkowski and Loretta Rustvold, his sister-in-law Marsha Borkowski; his brother-in-law Jim Haskins; and a niece Sara Lyn Borkowski.
Survivors include his brothers and sisters Donna and husband Lloyd Kelly, Marlys Borkowski, James Borkowski, Dale and wife Delyte Borkowski all of Audubon, Iowa; his brother-in-law Harry Rustvold of Audubon; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon.
Visitation:
The family will meet with friends Monday evening, December 13, 2010 at 6:00 P.M. at the Kessler Funeral home in Audubon, Iowa.
Service:
Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Bradley Ketcham on Tuesday, December 14, 2010, at 10:00 A.M. at St Johns Lutheran Church in Audubon, Iowa.
