Elizabeth Pollock, 64, of Anita, Iowa, passed away Monday, May 18, 2009, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, Iowa.
Elizabeth Pauline Steele was born January 19, 1945, in Grass Valley, California, the daughter of Merton and Joy Steele. She attended grade school in Grass Valley and graduated in 1962 from Encino High School in Carmichael, California.
In 1963, she married Jans Visker. She married Robert Dale Waterbury in 1973. On March 25, 2000, Elizabeth married Randy Pollock at the United Methodist Church in Anita, Iowa.
While living in Roseville, California, Elizabeth worked for a Formica Plant and the ARCO Arena, home of the Sacramento Kings. She moved to Iowa in 1990 and owned the Stringtown (Iowa) Café for 3 years. She sold Tupperware for four years, and most recently Elizabeth spent her time doing homecare for the elderly.
Elizabeth was an active member of the Anita United Methodist Church, and the United Methodist Church Women. She was also a member of the Women of Faith.
She was active in the community serving as a Happy Helper, delivering Meals on Wheels for the Hospital Auxiliary, and lending a hand when needed for the American Legion Auxiliary.
Elizabeth loved playing BINGO. She also enjoyed camping, fishing and dancing. In her spare time she enjoyed canvas painting and crocheting, along with other crafts. One thing her family will remember her for is the countless blankets she made for them and her many friends.
Elizabeth is survived by her husband, Randy of Anita; her son, Jans (Millie Goble) Visker of Oregon; her daughters, Tina (Joseph) Propst of Atlantic, IA, and Serina (Mark) Helinski of Anita, IA; her stepchildren, Christine (Kevin) Koons of North Highland, CA, Cindy (Marty) Edwards, Pam (Shawn) Myers all of Citrus Heights, CA, Suzann (Robert) Raveling of Templeton, IA, John Pollock of Anita, IA, and James Pollock of Atlantic, IA; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; her brothers, David (Ranae) Kimball of Vermillion, SD, Harvey Kimball of Sacramento, CA, and Jeff (Debbie) Steele of Sacramento, CA; her sisters, Laura Kimball of Sacramento, CA and Pat Steele of Napa, CA; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, John Steele; and her sister, Pam.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Friday, May 22, 2009, at the United Methodist Church in Anita, IA. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, from 1:30 - 2:30 p.m., also at the church.
Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Anita.
