Ella Carolyn Lauritsen, the daughter of Edward and Helen Moeckl Puck, was born December 30, 1941 at her parents’ home in Audubon County, Iowa and died November 26, 2012, at the Exira Care Center in Exira, Iowa at the age of 70 years, 10 months, and 26 days. Ella was baptized and confirmed at the Gray Methodist Church. She attended the Gray Consolidated School then graduated from the Audubon High School with the Class of 1960. Ella attended Beauty School in Des Moines, Iowa then returned to Audubon and worked with Joan’s Beauty Salon. On March 24, 1963, she was united in marriage to Earl Peter Lauritsen at the First United Methodist Church in Audubon, Iowa. Two children Randal and Michael were born to this union. Ella helped Earl on the farm, but continued to work as a Beauty operator with Joan Sorenson eventually purchasing the business in 1967. In the early 1970’s Ella moved the business to its present location. She truly loved the many ladies who patronized her business. Ella enjoyed spending time with Earl. They enjoyed golfing, traveling, and watching the races in Newton, Iowa. They enjoyed square dancing and served as co-president of the Audubon Circle A’s. But most of all she enjoyed being involved with all the activities with her grandchildren. Earl died December 29, 2009. Ella continued to live on the farm. Ella was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Audubon, Iowa where she served on the church counsel and was a Confirmation Mentor. She was a member of the Sunshine Helpers Club, the Audubon County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She served as president of the Southwest Iowa Hair Dressers Association. She was a member of the Audubon Chamber of Commerce, the Cattleman’s Association and an associate member of the Pork Producers and a supporter of the Audubon County Fair. Preceding her in death is her husband Earl P. Laurtisen; her parents; her in-laws: Benjamin and Lena Lauritsen; her brothers in law: Daniel “Zag“ Pennel; Steve Ernst; Emmert Lauritsen, and Edward Lauritsen; her sister-in-law Doris Lauritsen; her nephew Tim Lauritsen. Survivors include her sons: Randal and wife Dodi Lauritsen; Michael and wife Elizabeth Lauritsen, all of Exira, Iowa; her grandsons: Luke; R.J. and Jake Lauritsen, and Chance and Gage Lauritsen, all of Exira; her brothers and sisters: Wanda and Al Johnson of Nathrop, Colorado; Helen Ernst; Ed and Vicki Puck, all of Carroll, Iowa; Garry and Becky Puck and Ben and Kathy Puck, all of Manning, Iowa; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Norma Pennel of Petersburg, West Virginia; Virgil Lauritsen of Sac City, Iowa; Elaine Lauritsen of Audubon, Iowa; Raymond and Dorothy Lauritsen of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; Dale and Donna Rae Lauritsen of Webster City, Iowa; her special aunt Alma Heuss of Audubon; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Arlington Heights Cemetery in Audubon, Iowa.
Visitation:
The family will meet with friends Thursday evening at 5:00 P.M. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon, Iowa.
Service:
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 30, 2012, at 10:30 A.M. at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Audubon, Iowa.
