Emmert Andersen

Emmert V. Andersen, 92, of Atlantic, passed away, Wednesday, May 16, 2007, at Colonial Manor in Anita.

Emmert Virgil Andersen was born on June 25, 1914, the son of L.A. and Matilda (Pedersen) Andersen in Greeley Township, Audubon County, Iowa.

Emmert graduated from Elk Horn High School in 1932.
On November 7, 1938, he was married to Egidia at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. He farmed in Audubon County most of his life.

He was a member of the Exira Lutheran Church. Emmert enjoyed traveling and dancing. He also enjoyed spending time in San Diego and L.A., California.
Emmert is survived by his daughter, Pauline Knudsen and her husband, Donald of Atlantic, Iowa; grandchildren, Mark Knudsen and his wife, Jodie; Kirk Knudsen and his wife Joni, and Dave Knudsen and his wife, Laurie, all of Atlantic; great-grandchildren, Christopher and his fiancé, Amber Haywood, Nicholas, Michaela, Jake, and Tarah Anderson and her husband, Jeff; and step-great-grandchildren, Leslie and Joel Farley.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Egidia; brother, Harold; and sister, Lucile.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 21, 2007 in the Hockenberry Family Care Chapel. Following the memorial service the family invites you to join them for a luncheon in the Hockenberry Family Care Community Room.
