Emogene Fulk

Emogene " Emmy" Fulk, 86, of Anita, Iowa, passed away Monday, December 15, 2014, at Caring Acres Nursing and Rehab Center in Anita, Iowa.

Emmy was born April, 29, 1928, in Red Oak, Iowa, to Boyd W. and Gertrude A. (Smith) Sims. She grew up in the Clarinda area and attended Clarinda High School. Emmy married Jack Fulk on July 7, 1946, in Troy, Kansas. Early in their marriage, they lived in the Clarinda area until moving to Anita, Iowa, in 1955.

Emmy worked as a cook and dietician at the Atlantic hospital and at the elementary school in Anita for many years. She was a member of the Anita Methodist Church, the Pythian Sisters, and a 4-H leader for many years. Emmy enjoyed sewing, gardening, caring for people, and baking donuts, pies, candies and cookies. Her home was a revolving door for family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Boyd and Gertrude Sims, and a son, Roscoe "Rocky" Allen Fulk, and many special cousins.

Emmy is survived by her husband, Jack Fulk of Anita, IA; son, Fred (Ethel) Fulk of St. Joseph, MO; daughter, Jackie Sander of Anita, IA; grandchildren, Brent (Penny) Fortune of Forbes, MO, Teri Amos of St. Joseph, MO, Chris (Tim) Wahlert of Exira, IA, Alice Pankonen of Atlantic, IA, Doug Pankonen of Shelby, IA, Kelly (Nick) Karns of Leeds, AL, Lindsay Sander of Greenfield, IA, Elizabeth Sander of West Des Moines, IA; great-grandchildren, Tracy (David) Winslow of St. Joseph, MO, Tyler (Sara) Fortune of St. Joseph, MO, Dylan Amos of St. Joseph, MO, Breanna Peterson of Winterset, IA, Calin Peterson of Exira, IA, Dami Peterson of Exira, IA, Ellie Wahlert of Exira, IA, Bridgett Pankonen of Atlantic, IA, Karlee Parizek of West Branch, IA, Ricky Pankonen of Shelby, IA, Garret Karns and Emma Karns of Leeds, AL; 6 great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Harold (Edy) Sims of Burlington, IA, Dennis (Linda) Sims of Anita, IA; sister, Mary Davis of Clarinda, IA; brother-in-law, Earl Fulk of Menlo Park, CA; sister-in-law, Grace (Rick) Phair of Redwood City, CA; many nieces, nephews, and many special neighborhood kids.

Visitation with family will be from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 17, 2014, at Hockenberry Family Care in Anita, Iowa.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 A.M. Thursday, December 18, 2014, at the Anita United Methodist Church in Anita, Iowa, with burial in the Davis Cemetery in Shambaugh, Iowa.
