Erma Marie Haeflinger, the daughter of Charles M. and Gertrude Marie Nelsen Lambert was born December 28, 1911 at her parent’s home in Audubon County, Iowa and died April 29, 2012 at the Friendship Home in Audubon, Iowa at the age of 100 years, 4 months, and 1 day. Erma was baptized and confirmed at the Oak Hill Lutheran Church west of Brayton, Iowa. She attended various rural schools in Audubon County, Iowa and the attended Lincoln High School in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She graduated from the Audubon High School with the Class of 1929. On February 4, 1930 she was united in marriage to Emil A. Haeflinger in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Four children were born to this union. They farmed northeast of Ross, Iowa where they grew row crops and raised livestock. They retired from farming in 1969 and moved into Audubon. Emil died January 27, 2001. She enjoyed her home in Audubon until she moved to the Friendship Home in Audubon on July 26, 2007. Erma was a member of the Calvary Evangelical Church of Ross until she transferred her membership to the First United Methodist Church in Audubon. Her faith was a very important part of her life. She was a member of the Ladies Aide and a member of the garden club. She was involved in many card clubs and always loved to play cards. She enjoyed crocheting, canning, gardening, and always loved tying quilts with her sister Ethel . She loved to spend time with her family but most of all she enjoyed she loved to have all her family home at Christmas time. Preceding her in death was her husband Emil A. Haeflinger; her son Emil C. Haeflinger; her grandson Daniel Franck; and her parents. Survivors include her daughters: Ione and husband Charles Hardy of Clarksville, Iowa; Treva and husband Jerry Jensen of Audubon, Iowa; Jeanine and husband Francis Franck of Hideaway, Texas; her daughter-in-law Judi Haeflinger of Washington, Illinois; her grandchildren: Chris and wife Terry Hardy of Port Byron, Illinois; Cindy and husband Mike Johnson of Fairmont, Minnesota; Todd Jensen of West Des Moines, Iowa; Tim Jensen and Terry Jensen both of Audubon; Lisa and husband Stewart Rogers of Dallas, Texas; Gina and husband Keith Ketcher of Sacramento, California; Stephanie and husband Gary Deiters of Washington, Illinois; Rich and wife Julie Mason of Indiana; her great grandchildren: Joshua and wife Tammi Johnson of Burnsville, Minnesota; Chad and wife Sara Johnson of Pella, Iowa; William Rogers; Rachel Rogers both of Dallas, Texas; Alexandria Deiters, Elizabeth Deiters, Luke Deiters, Clare Deiters, and Isaac Deiters all of Washington, Illinois; Augusta Hardy and Georgia Hardy both of Port Byron, Illinois; Clayton Ketcher and Sam Ketcher both of Sacramento, California; her great-great grandchildren: Reese Johnson, Jonah Johnson, and Hayden Johnson all of Burnsville, Minnesota; Colin Johnson of Pella, Iowa; her sister Ethel Mack of Audubon; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon, Iowa.
Visitation:
The family will meet with friends Tuesday evening from 7:00 until 8:30 P.M. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon, Iowa.
Service:
Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at 1:30 P.M. at the First United Methodist Church in Audubon, Iowa.
