Erma May Rucker

Erma May Rucker, the daughter of Hans and Amelia Blom Jorgensen, was born July 28, 1918 at her parents home in rural Cass County near Atlantic, Iowa and died April 19, 2008 at the Exira Care Center in Exira, Iowa at the age of 89 years, 8 months and 21 days.
Erma was baptized February 1, 1919 at the Oak Hill Lutheran Church west of Brayton, Iowa and confirmed April 15, 1934 at the Exira Lutheran Church. She attended rural school in Audubon County then graduated from the Exira High School with the Class of 1937. She then taught rural school in Greeley Township, Audubon County for a short time.
On May 1, 1938 she was united in marriage to Victor L. Rucker at the Christian Church parsonage in Exira. They purchased a farm in Guthrie County where they raised grain and registered Hereford Cattle. They operated the farm until they retired in October of 1972. They moved to Exira in February of 1973. They enjoyed traveling and fishing in Minnesota as long as they could. Vic died August 10, 1994. Erma lived in their home until she moved to the Exira Care Center in March of 2008.
Erma was a member of the Exira Lutheran Church in Exira. She enjoyed quilting with the church ladies for as long as she was able.
Preceding her in death in addition to her husband Victor L. Rucker; her infant son Charles Duane Rucker; her parents; her sister Naomi and husband Milo Wahlert; her two half brothers: Franklin and wife Marian Dreyer; Hans and wife Geraldine Dreyer; her sister-in-law Bernice and husband Leo Hansen; her brother-in-law Wayne Rucker.
Survivors include her nieces and nephews: Julie and husband Roger Schulz of Audubon IA; Ronald Wahlert of Exira, IA; Marjorie and husband Ivan Andersen of Audubon; James and wife Lora Rucker of Staunton, IL; Ruth and husband Arnolds Phelps of Mt. Vernon, MO; 11 grandnieces and grandnephews; 11 great grandnieces and great grandnephews; her cousin Ronald and wife Kathie Albright of Conifer, CO; other relatives and friends.

The casket bearers will be: Roger Schulz, Ron Wahlert, Ivan Andersen, John Schulz, Bob Asberry, Jr. and Tom Benton.

Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Exira Cemetery in Exira, Iowa.

Visitation:
Friends may call at their convenience at the Kessler Funeral Home in Exira.

Service:
Funeral Services will be Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. at the Exira Lutheran Church in Exira. Pastor Ray Holmquist officiating.
