Esther Larsen

August 13, 1917 — February 5, 2013

Esther Dorothy Bicking was born in Bear Grove Township, Cass County, Iowa, August 13, 1917, the daughter of Peter and Bertha (Drager) Bicking and passed away Tuesday, February 5, 2013, at the Exira Care Center in Exira, Iowa.

She attended Bear Grove, Pleasant Dale and White Union country schools all in Cass County. Esther lived in Audubon and Cass Counties all of her life.

She was married to Leo Edmund Larsen on December 15, 1946, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Esther was a homemaker until Leo's passing in 1976, then was employed at Bowers Bakery in Atlantic until her retirement. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Atlantic for 66 ½ years.

She could always be depended on, no matter what, to take care of problems without judgment or consternation. Esther liked to keep busy with church activities and friends; family would often have to call to schedule time to visit her. Her grandchildren are grateful that Esther took a lot of secrets from their childhood to her grave.

Preceding Esther in death are her husband, Leo; her parents, Peter and Bertha Bicking; and her siblings, Albert, Mary, Lawrence and Martha.
She is survived by her daughters, Donna (Bill) Larson and Lana (Steve) Darling all of Atlantic, her grandchildren, Kevin Christensen of Brayton and Sarah Darling of Atlantic; her nieces and nephews, Sue Pomeroy of Kemp, Texas, Sheila Bicking of Loveland, Colorado, Sandy Bicking of Nebraska, and Dick Bicking and Butch Bicking both of Colorado; her great-nieces and great-nephews; John and Scott Pomeroy of Kemp, Texas, Chris Bicking of Dallas, Texas; special cousins, Irene Larsen of Elk Horn, Alice (Lavern) Petersen of Washington state, Harriet Campbell of Audubon and Shirley Nelson of Elk Horn; other relatives and friends.

A visitation with refreshments and coffee will be held from 1:00 to 2:30 pm. followed by funeral services at 2:30 p.m., all on Monday, February 11, 2013, at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic, Iowa.
