Loving mother, devoted grandmother, Evelyn “GG” Malone has gone on to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Evelyn was born April 13, 1919 in Lewis, Iowa to Issac Burton Warner and Mary Eva (Smart) Warner. She was the youngest of five children and the only girl. Evelyn grew up in Exira, Iowa. She married Alvie Akers on December 23, 1934 in Oak Field, Iowa, they later divorced. From this union came three children, Marilyn, Myron, and Marla. Evelyn married Royce Malone on October 31, 1965. Eveyln worked at corn factory, sorting corn in Coon Rapids, Iowa, at the local supermarket in Exira and the Super Valu in Denison. She also worked as a clerical assistant at Family Development Center in Audubon, with her dear friend, Rilma. Evelyn enjoyed playing the fiddle at barn dances. She loved canning, crocheting, bowling, playing darts, gambling and jet skiing. Evelyn made an afghan for each of her grand children’s graduation. She enjoyed spending time with her co-workers and the “ladies she bowled with”. The dart players adopted her as their “grandma” and were amazed that an 87-year-old woman could play darts and drink apple pucker. GG took her last spin on the jet ski at age 92. Her family was what was important to her – she was always there for her family to offer a hug, kiss, or to ask “what can I get you to eat”. She ALWAYS had time to sit, talk, listen, or just wait – she was there for anyone who needed her. Evelyn moved to Colorado to live near her youngest daughter, Marla, in 1997. She joined a Hospice Group and made life-long friends, Shonna and Terri, and Loretta. They had monthly luncheons that Evelyn looked forward to. She resided at Century III Apartments, Bright Assisted Living, and LifeCare Center of Greeley, where she made many friends. GG just celebrated her 95th birthday. Her great-grandchildren, Kadin Ogren (age 11) and Jasmine Ogren (age 7) made her homemade macaroni and cheese, meatloaf and apple pie. Five years ago, when Evelyn turned 90, she had a surprise birthday party with her whole family in attendance. She is survived by daughters Marilyn Andersen (Robert), Marla Swanson (Rex Best), daughter-in-law Joyce (Akers) Welker, and step-son Kip Malone (Jennifer), 10 grandchildren - Matthew Akers (D’va Dee), Jolena Welker (Sam), Jennifer Clark (Rick), Melissa Pohl (Glen), Monte Akers (Margie), Melody Wasson (Ryan), Rodney Andersen (Barb), Kathy Christensen (Ron), Johnny Andersen, and Kristi Ogren (Jason), and four step-grandchildren Rae, Katie, Rick, and Steve and numerous great grand children and great-great grandchildren, special cousin, Lois Pardee, and many friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, Edward, IJ, Paul, and Gerald Warner, husbands Alvie Akers and Royce Malone and son, Myron Akers, step-grandson, Kip Todd Mack, great-grandson Nathan Hunter, Cliff Welker, Lorraine Peffer, and Mick Pardee.
