Evelyn M. Lewellen, 83, of Adair, Iowa, died Tuesday, November 25, 2014, at Kavanagh House in Des Moines, Iowa.

Evelyn M. Lewellen was born March 28, 1931, in Guthrie County, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Daisy (Mooney) Baird.

Evelyn graduated from Adair High School in 1948. On October 4, 1950, she married Fred Lewellen at her parents' home in Guthrie County.

She worked as a cook for 22 years at the Adair-Casey Schools. She had been a lifelong resident of the Adair area. Evelyn was a member of the Casey United Methodist Church, Deborah-Mary Circle, the Adair Civic League, and the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed reading, sewing, cooking and helping with various activities at the church.

Surviving Evelyn are her children, Alice (Mike) Lewellen of Forrest City, Iowa, Curtis (Patricia) Lewellen of Moberly, Missouri, Sharon Henderson of Hamilton, Missouri, and Scott Lewellen of Des Moines, Iowa; grandchildren, Kate (Michael) Jordal, Ryan Lewellen, Kerri (Marvin) Woodson, Drew Lewellen, James (Tina) Henderson, Reed Henderson and Paxton Henderson; great-grandchildren, Bailey Lewellen, Keali Woodson, Griffin Jordal, Gage Henderson, Elaina Henderson and Kyle Edholm.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fred; son-in-law, Johnnie Henderson; granddaughter, Jamie Lewellen; great-granddaughter, Kimberly Jordal; and a sister, Isabel Taylor.

Visitation with family will be from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., Friday, November 28, 2014, at the Hockenberry Funeral Home in Adair, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 29, 2014, at the United Methodist Church in Casey, Iowa. Burial will be in the Dalmanutha Cemetery northwest of Casey, Iowa.
