Evelyn Delores Valduga was born on December 10, 1925, in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of Rudolph and Myrtle (Hought) Valduga and passed away on Monday, August 15, 2011, at Colonial Manor in Anita.
Delores graduated from high school in Richmond Heights, Ohio, where she met and was married to Dale Spargur on March 6, 1945. The couple lived in Ohio, Missouri, and Arizona before coming to Iowa. They resided in Villisca, Red Oak and Atlantic prior to settling in Anita, Iowa.
She was employed at the Coke plant in Atlantic and as a cook at Colonial Manor in Anita. Delores was a member of the United Methodist Church where she was active in the quilting circle and was a member of the Anita Legion Auxiliary.
She will be remembered as a positive, energetic person who was always smiling and always willing to help. She enjoyed visiting with her neighbors and friends over a cup of coffee. Delores loved gardening, especially raising daisies and roses. Her other hobbies included quilting, knitting, crocheting, and tatting, reading and working on word search puzzles.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Spargur; her parents, Rudolph and Myrtle Valduga; her son, Dennis Spargur; and her sister, Hilda Bench.
Delores is survived by her daughter, Dawn (Clair) Marnin of Anita; her son, Darrell (Loretta) Spargur of Haughton, Louisiana; her sister, Faith Ann (Jim) Van Diest; her daughter-in-law, Yi Kum Pong Spargur; her grandchildren, Claressa (Wes) Hensley, Sondra Marnin, Heath (Amy) Spargur, JoAnn Spargur Frank, Suebeon Spargur; and Christine Spargur; her great grandchildren, Allyson, Gracie and Kaden Hensley, Genevieve Spargur, Corynn and Nick Frank and Arnold and Alleah Spargur; numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 18, 2011, at the United Methodist Church in Anita. A viewing will be at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Anita, Iowa.
Memorials may be made to the Anita United Methodist Church or the Cass County Memorial Hospital Foundation.
