Faye Nadine Erickson

Faye Nadine Erickson, the daughter of Henry and Delphine Hamlin Carter, was born December 22, 1922, on her parents’ farm north of Exira, Iowa and died July 23, 2013, at the Exira Care Center in Exira, Iowa at the age of 90 years, 7 months, and 1 day. She attended rural school near Exira and graduated from the Exira High School with the Class of 1939. After graduation Faye moved to Davenport, Iowa where she worked at a school for girls for a short time before moving back to Audubon County. On November 22, 1940, she was united in marriage to Arthur Erickson. Six children: Dick, Judy, Dale, Susan, Alan, and Robert were born to this union. They farmed in Audubon County until Art died on September 19, 1971. Faye moved to Exira, Iowa where she was employed at the Exira Community Schools as a cook for 7 years. She then owned and operated Faye’s Ceramics in Exira giving lessons and selling green ware for 15 years until she retired due to her failing health in 1998. She enjoyed her home in Exira until she moved to the Exira Care Center on January 22, 2010. Faye was a member of the Exira Lutheran Church in Exira, Iowa and was on several church circles. She was a member of the Exira Garden Club and the Exira Community Club for many years. Faye loved to garden and always had a large flower and vegetable garden. She also enjoyed quilting and was an excellent cook. She especially enjoyed getting together with her family for holiday gatherings. Preceding her death in addition to her husband Art; were her parents; her brother Richard and wife Francis Carter; and Art’s brothers and sisters: Alfred and wife Elaine, Violet and husband Frank, Sis, Harold, and Gordon. Survivors include her children: Dick and wife Carol Erickson of Denison, Iowa; Judy and husband Mark Crampton of Exira, Iowa; Dale and wife Rose Erickson of Atlantic, Iowa; Susan and husband Craig Riesgaard of Exira, Iowa; Alan and wife Jerene Erickson of Atlantic, Iowa; and Robert and wife Cindy Erickson of Woodbury, Minnesota; her grandchildren: Richard Erickson, Jeanie and husband Randy Wilken, Lisa Erickson, Tim and wife Sara Erickson, Mitch Crampton, Scott and wife Anne Crampton, Chris Erickson, Mike Thompson, David Thompson, Kelley and husband Steve Burke, Andrea Riesgaard, Dustin Riesgaard, Matthew and wife Kris Erickson, Nathan and wife Melissa Erickson, Jennifer and husband Nathan Schoenfeld, James and wife Mikel Erickson, Jessica Erickson, Jordan Erickson, and Howie Joe and wife Abby Erickson; 26 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren; her sister Janice and husband Don Andersen of Audubon, Iowa; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Exira Cemetery in Exira, Iowa.

Service:
Funeral services will be Saturday, July 27, 2013, at 2:00 P.M. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Exira, Iowa.

Visitation:
The family will meet with friends Saturday afternoon at 1:00 P.M. until the time of the service at the Kessler Funeral Home in Exira.
