Floyd Alfred Williams, age 93 of Atlantic, IA, passed away Monday, May 13, 2024, at his home in Atlantic. He was born the son of Alfred and Arletta (Randall) Williams on April 27, 1931 in Atlantic. He was raised in Atlantic and graduated from Atlantic High School. After graduation, he joined his father in farming. Shortly thereafter he was drafted into the Army. He served his country faithfully from April of 1952 until his honorable discharge in March of 1954 after which he returned to the family farm.
On December 20, 1958, Floyd was united in marriage to Anne Kinsey at the Presbyterian Church in Grimes, Iowa. Floyd and Anne then moved to the Williams Family Farm Northwest of Lewis, Iowa, where they raised their family. They remained on the farm until 1983 at which time they moved to Atlantic. Floyd farmed the century family farm for many years, as well as selling feed. He was quite proud that he did not retire until he was 91 years old. He and Anne enjoyed their many adventures. Together they always made new friends along the way.
He was preceded in death by his dear wife of 61 years, Anne; his parents, Alfred and Arletta; his in-laws, John and Hildred Kinsey; his sisters, Talena (Art) Anderson and Florence (Jake) Butler.
Floyd is survived by his children, Tom (Dianna) Williams of Lewis, IA, John Williams of Atlantic, IA, Kristy (Chuck) Auten of Greenfield, IA, and Katherine Williams of Atlantic, IA; grandchildren, Christopher (Ashley) Williams, Stephanie Lansdown, Meghan (William) Wedemeyer, Taylor (Ali) Williams-Kurt, and Amy Katz; great-grandchildren, Hayden Lansdown, Brennan and Grayson Williams, Hallie and Parker Wedemeyer, Maliyah and Elayna Katz; sister-in-law, Ruth Clinton; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Friday, May 17, 2024, at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Atlantic, with Rev. Rachelle McCalla officiating. Visitation with the family present will be held from 10 am till the time of services at the funeral home. A luncheon will follow at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home Community Room. The burial will be at a later date in the Atlantic Cemetery in Atlantic. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Nishna Valley Family YMCA or to the Presbyterian Church in Atlantic and can be left or mailed to the funeral home at P.O.
