Frances Mae Jensen

Frances Mae Jensen, the daughter of Raymond and Pauline (Pross) Hoover, was born January 19, 1928, at her parent’s home near Walnut, Iowa and died July 12, 2017, at the Trinity Medical Center in Fort Dodge, Iowa at the age of 89 years, 5 months, and 23 days.
Frances was baptized and confirmed at the Presbyterian Church in Walnut, Iowa. She attended Marne Community School through the eighth grade and graduated from the Atlantic High School with the Class of 1945. Frances then was employed as a telephone operator for a short time.
On July 14, 1946, she was united in marriage to Bernard L. Jensen at the Exira Lutheran Church Parsonage in Exira, Iowa. They were blessed with seven children Ronald, Donald, Steven, Karen, Paul, Allen, and Mark. They operated farms in Audubon County where they grew row crops and raised livestock until 1960. The family moved to Milaca, Minnesota where they purchased a dairy farm. While living in Minnesota Frances was a homemaker but also was employed as a Food Service Supervisor for the local nursing home. They operated the dairy for several years then moved back to Iowa in 1967. The family settled in Avoca, Iowa where they resided for the next 32 years. Bernard was in sales for Mez Implement and Frances was the Food Service Supervisor for the Avoca Nursing Home until she retired. Bernard died in 1988. Frances continue to live in Avoca until 1999 when she moved to Underwood, Minnesota to help her son Paul and his family operate their Weslake Resort. She later moved to Fort Dodge, Iowa in 2004 to be near her daughter Karen. Frances lived in an apartment for several years then has resided at the Marian Home for the past eight years.
Frances enjoyed playing cards, quilting at the church on Wednesday mornings and doing crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles.
Preceding her in death was her husband Bernard L. Jensen; her son Allen Jensen; her parents; her brother Herbert Hoover; her sisters-in-law Elaine and husband Clarence Van Aernam and Thelma Jensen; and her brother-in-law Harold Jensen.
Survivors include her children Ronald and wife Carolyn Jensen of Canton, Michigan, Donald and wife Marty Jensen of Warwick, Georgia, Steven and wife Rita Jensen of New Haven, Michigan, Karen and husband Paul Petersen of Fort Dodge, Iowa, Paul and wife Becky Jensen of Underwood, Minnesota, and Mark and wife Julie Jensen of Walnut, Iowa; 22 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; her sisters-in-law Lois Jensen of Huxley, Iowa and Delores Hoover of Anita, Iowa; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family will meet with friends Thursday morning, July 20, 2017, from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the Exira Lutheran Church in Exira, Iowa. Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Steven Frock and Pastor Sara Hill Thursday morning July 20, 2017, at 11:00 A.M. at the Exira Lutheran Church in Exira, Iowa. Interment will be in the Exira Cemetery. The honorary casket bearers will be her granddaughters Natasha Bates, Cherie Fiolek, Miranda McKee, Lindsey Green, Brandi Wade, Richelle Myers, Nichole Brazel, Gabriella Neff, Rebecca Mabe, Jessica Kuykendall, Melissa Jensen, Sarina Jensen, and Sasha Johnson. The casket bearers will be her grandsons Joshua Jensen, Jeremy Jensen, Brian Jensen, Steven Joseph Jensen, Kevin Jensen, Nathan Jensen, Perry Petersen, Kole Petersen, and Jacob Musich.
