Frances Marie Miller, the daughter of Jack and Nellie Gilliland Shenk, was born May 21, 1942, at her parents home in Ottawa, Kansas and died April 22, 2011, at her home in Brayton, Iowa at the age of 68 years, 11 months, and 1 day.
Frances was baptized in the Baptist Church in Ottawa. She attended rural schools near Ottawa then worked for other people for several years. Later she was employed as a cook for several different restaurants. She was married and three children, Debra, Terry, and Delores, were born to this union. Frances continued as a cook in restaurants until 1982. She then became a Certified Nurses Aide. Frances worked as a care giver from many people until she retired.
Frances enjoyed fishing, crocheting, and playing games on her computer. She loved to cook, enjoyed eating tomatoes, and sharing ice cream with Papa. But most of all her pride and joy was her children and grandchildren.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers William and wife Maxine Cochrane and Ralph and wife Marjorie Cochrane; and several aunts and uncles.
Frances is survived by her significant other James Johnson of Brayton, Iowa; her daughters: Debra Noles and significant other Royce Turner of Exira, Iowa; Terry Wright of Brayton; Delores and husband Steve Karwal of Elliot, Iowa; her step children: Virginia and husband Pete Raysbrook of Seattle, Washington; Jacqueline Johnson of Oak Grove, Missouri; Tommy and wife Sheri Johnson of Independence, Missouri; her grandchildren: Jackie Wright of Elk Horn, Iowa; Joey Jensen of Jessieville, Arkansas; Crystal and husband Brad Parker of Atlantic, Iowa; Daniel and wife Nichcole Jensen of Exira; Delores and significant other Joel Fineran of Exira; Dewey Noles of Jessieville; Steph Karwal of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Virginia Branam of Brayton; Dillon Karwal, Steven Karwal , Jr. and Brittany Karwal all of Elliot; numerous step-grandchildren and great grandchildren; her sister: Deloris Martin of Flagstaff, Arizona; her niece and nephew: Ralph W. Cochrane III of Lawrence, Kansas; Norma Jean Ripeman of Flagstaff; other relatives and friends.
Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery west of Brayton, Iowa.
Visitation:
The family will meet with friends on Monday, April 25, 2011 at 12:30 P.M. until time of service at the Kessler Funeral Home in Exira.
Service:
Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Steven Frock on Monday, April 25, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Exira.
