Fred Cole, the son of Fred Harris and Cecille Lucille Beal Cole, was born June 2, 1926, in Kansas City, Missouri and died July 31, 2008, at his home in Audubon, Iowa at the age of 82 years, 1 month, and 29 days.
Fred was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church. He attended school in Lewis, Iowa and then graduated from the Atlantic High School. Fred received a Bachelors Degree in Electric Engineering from the University of Washington in Seattle, WA.
Fred was united in marriage to Iola Andersen in Atlantic, IA. Three children were born to this union, Gregory, Ken and Katherine. Fred was employed as a radio control operator for the Atlantic Police Department for several years. Fred later was employed as an aerospace engineer for the rest of his working life. He worked for Boeing and NASA, working on the space shuttle program, then worked for Ford Aerospace in California, LTV in Dallas, TX; Hughes Aircraft in Los Angeles, CA. Later Fred and Iola owned and operated a Coast to Coast Hardware Store in Longmont, CO for several years. Fred then worked for Lockheed-Martin until he retired. They lived in Colorado. Iola died in 1984. Fred returned to Iowa where he lived in and around Exira. Fred married Dianna Morrow and they lived at his present home in Audubon. Fred was a member of the Radio Controlled (RC) Club in Audubon County, IA.
Preceding him in death in addition to his wife Iola Cole were his granddaughter Zoe Mormann and his parents.
Survivors include his wife Dianna G. Morrow Cole of Audubon, IA; his children: Gregory H. Cole and Ken and wife Diane Cole, all of Denver, CO; Katherine Cole and husband Paul Mormann of Audubon; three grandchildren: Mattie Cole, Samuel Cole and Rachel Cole, all of Denver; Diannas children: Lynn Stocker-Schmidt of Albuquerque, NM; Roger and wife Ashley Schmidt of Fountain, CO; Shawn Schmidt of Exira, IA; Diannas four grandchildren: his father-in-law Donald Morrow of Pierce City, MO; and other relatives.

Celebration of Life Memorial Services will be August 12, 2008 at 7:00 P.M. at the R.C. Fly field west of Audubon.
