Fredric Brownsberger

March 15, 1932 — August 18, 2010

Fredric Henry Brownsberger, 78 of Anita, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, August 18, 2010, in Anita.

Fritz was born March 15, 1932, in Montrose, Missouri, and grew up in Anita, Iowa. He attended the Anita public school when he felt like it, making it through the 8th grade.

He was united in marriage to Phylis Clark on October 20, 1956, at St. Peter and Paul's Catholic Church in Atlantic, Iowa. They enjoyed 54 years of marriage. He worked as a truck driver, construction worker and a bridge builder throughout his working career. His favorite was building bridges. He filled his retirement years with golfing, flying, and his creative inventions. He was a member of the American Legion and he especially enjoyed the parades. He was well known for his original design for the trailer pushing the flags instead of pulling the flags through the parade. As per military protocol, the flag HAD to be first. He was also a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He was a Eucharistic minister, a choir member, and just one of several all around help it persons.

Some of his most cherished memories are teasing the grandkids/great-grandkids, admiring old automobiles, building go carts, operating CAT caterpillars, playing harmless pranks and jokes, and achieving the unreachable dream of fixing the golf cart that ran perfectly and making a hole-in-one.

Surviving Fred are his wife, Phylis; 3 daughters, Teresa Nelson and husband Allen, of Fredonia, Arizona, Danette Sanders and husband Dennis of Spokane Washington, Ann Bryen and husband Richard of Council Bluffs, Iowa. One son, Steven and his wife Cindy of Adel, Iowa. Three brothers, Dan and his wife Dottie, Phillip and his wife Barb, Paul and his wife Patricia. Eight sisters, Hazel Bengard and husband Terry, Joy Davis and husband Ernie, Judy Wilson and husband Max, Avis Petty and husband Bill, Philomena (Deana/Phyllis) Lewis and husband John Pat, Cecilia Stowe and life partner Molly Chamberlin, and Stephanie Bessire and husband Mike. 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Gertrude Brownsberger, Sr.; a brother, Edward Brownsberger, Jr.; and 2 sisters, Beverly Brownsberger and Mary Culp.
