Gary Allen Dressler

Gary Allen Dressler, age 89, of Anita, passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2025. 

Gary was born on June 18, 1935 in Lincoln Township, Cass County Iowa. He graduated from Anita in 1953. Upon graduating high school, Gary enlisted in the Army Reserve and served for six years. He was united in marriage to Donnis Lee Keller on September 30, 1961. Together, Gary and Donnis had three sons, Monte, Kirk, and David. 

Gary farmed his entire life alongside his dad, Dale, and son Monte raising cattle and hogs. Gary and Donnis lived on the farm for 30 years until 1993 when they moved to Anita. It was then Monte and his family moved to the farm. Gary continued to farm until they ended their farming operation in 2000. His grandkids have fond memories of the farm, including when Grandpa Gary would give them rides on the three wheeler, driving too fast with them clinging to his shirt. They also remember the large garden that Grandpa Gary and Grandma Donnis had, and Grandpa giving them potatoes to eat straight out of the ground. Gary and Donnis went everywhere together. When they first started dating, they spent their summertime Sunday nights at the racetrack with Gary racing his micromidget. They enjoyed taking trips to the city, trips with Donnis’s siblings, and also enjoyed visiting different casinos. He enjoyed trips with his grandchildren weather it be World's of Fun or Adventureland . Branson trips were also a highlight of their travels. Gary also enjoyed cruising on his motorcycle on nice days, especially when his dog Molly was on the seat behind him. 

In addition to his three sons, Gary had 3 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren with the 8th on the way. Gary enjoyed his family, especially his great-grandchildren in his later years.

 Gary is survived by his wife, Donnis, sister, Sue (Ted) Jessen of Anita, his sons Monte (Melinda) Dressler of Atlantic, and Kirk Dressler of Greenfield and Kirk’s significant other, Sommay, his grandchildren Amanda (Lucas) Allsup of Anita, Danielle (Josh) Allsup of Adel, Ben (Katherine) Dressler of Norwalk, 7 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. 

He is preceded in death by his parents Dale and Murle Dressler, and son David Dressler. 

 Memorial Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 7, 2025 at the Anita United Methodist Church with Pastor Jessica Wietzke officiating.

Visitation with the family will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service.

Burial will be at a later date at the Evergreen Cemetery in Anita.
