Gary Ehle

Gary Leroy Ehle, 73, of Lyman, Iowa, passed away Sunday, February 28, 2016, at his home.

He was born on November 5, 1942, to Delbert and Lorraine (Taylor) Ehle in Anita, Iowa. Gary was raised in the Lyman area and attended the Griswold community schools. Other than a few years living in Atlantic, he spent his whole life in Lyman. He was married to Connie Vandoorn for a few years. Gary was united in marriage to Phyllis (Kay) Christensen on March 20, 1976, at the Little Brown Church in the Vale located in Nashua, Iowa.

Gary went to work for his uncle Leroy at Lyman Produce when he was a teenager and worked the rest of his life there. He was a quiet man but a very hard worker. He was a past member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Lyman. Gary loved his children and grandchildren. Gary was in love with Phyllis and was devoted to her. And broken-hearted without her.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Delbert and Lorraine Ehle and his wife, Phyllis Ehle.

Gary is survived by his children, David (Lindy) Ehle of Belle Plaine, IA, Kristi Ehle of Barnes City, IA and Jeff (Shelly) Christensen of Atlantic, IA; stepson, Rodney (Ruth) Christensen of Atlantic, IA; grandchildren, Jonathan (Krystal) Henry of Chesapeake, VA, Jason (Jessica) Henry of Belle Plaine, IA, Dylan and Tyler Christensen of Atlantic, IA; step-grandchildren, Misty (Brian) Kepner of Castana, IA, and Seth and Chad Christensen of Atlantic, IA; great-grandchildren, Dakota, Emmalee, Hunter and Brookelynn Henry all of Belle Plaine, IA; step-great-grandchild, Royce Kepner of Castana, IA; siblings, Karen (Ray) Underwood of Lyman, IA and Kent (Theresa) Ehle of Atlantic, IA, and many friends.

In lieu of flowers, Gary's family strongly prefers memorials to the family or to the Gary Ehle memorial account at First Whitney Bank in Atlantic, Iowa.

An interment of ashes will take place at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 16, 2016, in the Atlantic Cemetery in Atlantic, Iowa, followed by a gathering of family and friends from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., also on Saturday, April 16, 2016, at the First Church of Christ in Atlantic, Iowa.
