Genevieve Kluever

Genevieve Aldrich was born November 27, 1918, south of Anita, Iowa, the daughter of Clair Eugene and Hope (Bigelow) Aldrich and passed away Friday, February 11, 2011, at her home in Papillion, Nebraska.

She graduated from the Wiota Consolidated School in 1936 and Simpson College in 1938. Genevieve also attended the University of Southern California and Drake University.

On October 12, 1952, she married Eugene Kluever at the First Baptist Church in Atlantic. The couple lived on a farm south of Atlantic until 1969 when they moved to Atlantic, then moving to Urbandale in 1983. Genevieve taught school for 31 years in Redfield, Des Moines and Atlantic. She also worked as a book keeper in Des Moines for four years, retiring in 1981.

Genevieve was a member of the Atlantic First Baptist Church from 1952 until 1983. She was also a member of West Des Moines United Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star, Delta Kappa Gamma, Beta Sigma Phi, the Blank Guild, and a life member of the Iowa State Education Association. She also did volunteer work at Iowa Methodist Medical Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clair and Hope Aldrich; her husband, Eugene Kluever; her brother, Jack (Phyllis) Aldrich; and her sister, Betty (Dale) Neff.

Genevieve is survived by her children, Nick Kluever of Eldora, Iowa, Ned (Denise) Kluever of Norwalk, Iowa, and Sue (Gary) Wattenbarger of Papillion, Nebraska; her grandchildren, Brett (Sara) Kluever of Kearney, Nebraska, Stacia Kluever of Union, Iowa, Jeff (Holly) Kluever of Iola, Kansas, Tracy Kluever of Norwalk, Iowa, Adam Wattenbarger of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Jenny Wattenbarger of Papillion, Nebraska; her daughter-in-law, Charlotte Kluever of Union, Iowa; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, February 16, 2011, at the Atlantic Cemetery in Atlantic, Iowa.

Family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.

Hockenberry Family Care Funeral Home in Atlantic, Iowa, is in charge of the arrangements.
