George "Walton" Farnsworth, 73, of Adair, Iowa, died Saturday, December 9, 2006, near Creston, Iowa, as the result of an auto accident.
George Walton Farnsworth was born on April 19, 1933, on the family farm in Guthrie County, Iowa, the son of George Lewis and Helen Elsie (Mooney) Farnsworth.
He attended country school until the 8th grade and graduated from the Adair High School in 1951.
Walton served in the United States Army between WWII and Korea, patrolling and protecting the borders. He was very proud of service in the Army.
On April 3, 1960, Walton married Karel Marie Koboldt at the Earlham United Methodist Church in Earlham, Iowa.
Walton lived in the Adair, Iowa, area his entire life and he and Karel were still living in the farm home where he was born.
He farmed for the majority of his life and after retirement from the farm, he did various jobs around the area.
Walton was a very active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Adair. He was also a member of the Adair Community Choir and the Adair VFW Post #8877.
Walt enjoyed reading, singing and traveling. He was a WWII and history buff and attended numerous air shows.
Walton is survived by his wife, Karel Farnsworth of Adair, Iowa, his two daughters, Deanna Farnsworth and her husband, Walter Bellar of Sarasota, Florida and Karen Farnsworth of Des Moines, Iowa; a sister, Joanna Fust and her husband, Donald of Humansville, Missouri.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, December 16, 2006, at the First Presbyterian Church in Adair, Iowa, with The Reverend Char Reif officiating.
Visitation is scheduled for Friday, from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with the family greeting their friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., on Friday evening at the Hockenberry-Mullen Funeral Home in Adair.
Committal services and interment will be in the Sunnyhill Cemetery, Adair, Iowa.
