Gertrude "Wini" Anderson, 88, of Atlantic, Iowa, (formerly of the Lyman and Griswold areas) passed away September 25, 2007, at Atlantic Nursing and Rehab Center.

Gertrude Winifred Anderson was born on June 12, 1919, in Rockford Township, Pottawattamie County, near Loveland, Iowa, the daughter of Roy Noble and Anna Barbara (Henry) Hildebrand.

She grew up on a farm northwest of Lewis. Wini attended country school and graduated from Lewis High School in 1936.

On October 23, 1938, she was united in marriage to Lyle V. Anderson at her parent's home.

Wini liked to garden and did alterations for numerous people over the years. She also enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren; all of whom she loved very much.

Wini is survived by her daughters, Karen Kae Sothman of Lyman, Iowa, and Mildred Jo South and her husband, Delmar of Cumberland, Iowa; sons, Lyle Lee Anderson and his wife, Kathy of Oxford, Iowa, and Barry Lynn Anderson of Iowa City, Iowa; grandchildren, Kyle Sothman, Tracy Sothman, Rhys South, Renee Dirks and Cris Anderson; 7 step-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 9 step great-grandchildren; and 3 step great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Lyle Vernon Anderson on July 2, 1995; daughter, Barbara in 1978; sisters, Margery Zellmer and Doris Whited; brothers, Robert Theodore Hildebrand and Ralph, in infancy; and step grandchild, Reid South.

Graveside memorial services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 29, 2007, at the Oakwood Cemetery in Lewis, IA. In case of inclement weather, services will be held at the Lewis Community Center at the same time. Following the graveside services the family invites you to join them for a luncheon at the Lewis Community Center.

No visitation has been scheduled.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association or a charity of your choice.
