Gladys Jorgensen

Gladys Jorgensen, 94, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, February 4, 2009, at the Heritage House in Atlantic.

Gladys Margaret Walters was born August 25, 1914 in Audubon County, Iowa, the daughter of Mads and Anna Marie (Beck) Walters. She grew up and attended country school in Audubon County, Iowa.

In 1931, she was united in marriage to Edvald Jorgensen. Three children were born to this union. The family lived in Audubon County until 1953, when they moved to Anita, Iowa.
Gladys was employed at the Redwood Steakhouse, the Coffee Bar, and Green Door Cafe all in Anita, Iowa. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Anita, the First United Methodist Women, and the Methodist Women's quilting group.

Gladys was a good cook and a master bread maker, with cinnamon and dinner rolls as a specialty. She also had a talent for making wedding cakes. Other interests include sewing, crocheting, knitting, and reading.

Survivors include her daughters, Ramona Camp and Brenda McCullough of Atlantic; her son, Floyd Jorgensen of Smyrna, Tennessee; her grandchildren, Jeff (Karen) Camp of Stanwood, Washington, Leland (Luann) Camp of Waverly, Iowa, Barb (Craig) Jackson of Grimes, Iowa, Janeen (Ron) Dvorak of Omaha, Nebraska, Debra (Jaime) Roskom of Smyrna, Tennessee, Donna (Eric) Growden of Smyrna, Tennessee, Diane Jorgensen of Nashville, Tennessee, Jaime (Andy) Grieshaber of Des Moines, Iowa, and Jarrod Crawley (friend Heidi Linfor) of Shenandoah, Iowa; step grandchildren, Ryan Kurka of Fairfield, Iowa, and Lee Kurka of Arizona; great grandchildren, Spencer, Carissa, and Tyler Camp, Mallory Camp, Alison (Chris) Ruttencutter, Robin Jackson, Kaylee Crawley, Courtney and Rachael Dvorak, Bethany and Andrew Growden; and her sisters-in-law, Nina Walters of Anita, Iowa, and Flay Walters of Audubon, Iowa.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sons-in-law, Jack Camp and Douglas McCullough; her brothers, Folmer (Frances), Henry, Harry (Selma), and Verner Walters; her sisters, Anna (Viggo) Jacobsen and Meta (Louis) Brown; her parents-in-law; and several brothers and sisters-in-laws.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2009, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Atlantic.

Burial will be in Southlawn Memorial Gardens in Atlantic.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2009, from 1:00 until 7:00 p.m. with the family present from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic.
