Gregery Edwards

Gregery Lee Edwards was born March 30, 1954, the son of Dale Mason and Ruth Geraldine (Campbell) Edwards and passed away on Friday, February 1, 2013, at his home in Adair, Iowa.

He grew up in Audubon and was baptized and confirmed at the First United Methodist Church. Greg graduated from the Audubon High School in 1972. During high school, Greg was active in athletics and served as the student body president for the 1971-72 school year. After high school, Greg earned an associates degree from the Clarinda Community College.

He lived in Idaho for a couple of years before returning to Audubon. Greg also lived in Des Moines for a short time before settling in Adair.

On August 6, 1983, he was married to Lynn Marie Sohrweide near Richfield, Wisconsin.

Greg was employed at Roberts Rural Supply in Audubon, Prudential Insurance Company in Des Moines and in the insurance division at Exchange State Bank in Adair prior to opening the Hometown Insurance Agency in Adair. He was a member of the Masons in Audubon and served as Chamber President in Adair.

Greg had a distinctive laugh and enjoyed sharing his Elvis Presley imitation with family and friends, always making sure everyone had a good time. In his spare time he enjoyed playing golf, fishing hunting and camping with friends.

Greg is survived by his parents, Dale and Ruth Edwards of Audubon; his daughters, Tahara (Dan) Norton of Johnston and Tracie Edwards of Des Moines; his grandson, Connor Norton of Johnston, his brothers, Jim Edwards of Audubon and Jeff (Susan) Edwards of Vinton, Iowa; his nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

A visitation will be held on Monday, February 4, 2013, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Hockenberry Funeral Home in Adair.

A funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 5, 2013, at the First United Methodist Church in Audubon.

Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon.

Hockenberry Funeral Home in Adair and Hockenberry-England Funeral Home in Audubon, Iowa, are in charge of the arrangements.
