Grover Marshall Davis

Grover Marshall Davis, the son of John Marshall and Rose (Christensen) Davis, was born April 28, 1926, at his parents' home in Cameron Township, Audubon County near Gray, Iowa and died March 22, 2013 at his home in Audubon, Iowa at the age of 86 years, 10 months, and 24 days. Grover was baptized and confirmed at the Gray Methodist Church in Gray, Iowa. He attended the Gray Community Schools graduating from the Gray High School with the Class of 1943. He then helped operate the family farm with his father. On December 10, 1944, he was united in marriage to Rosalie Chaney at the First Presbyterian Church in Audubon. They moved to Burlington, Iowa where he was employed at the Ordinance Plant. On February 14, 1945, Grover was inducted into the United States Army. During his tour of duty he served with the 175th Ordinance Depot Company in the Philippines. He was honorably discharged on June 26, 1946. He returned to Audubon and was employed as a plumber by Sherm Lang. They had three children: Kathleen, Timothy, and Peggy. In 1948, Grover established Davis Plumbing and Heating. He operated the plumbing, heating and electrical business until he retired in 1988 and sold the business. During retirement Grover enjoyed working on different projects and inventions. Grover was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Audubon. He served as a Deacon and an Elder. He was an adult advisor for the Church Youth Fellowship and was the Skippers of the Mariner's and taught Church School for many years. He was a member of the Blue Masonic Lodge, the Za-Ga-Zig Shriner’s, the Pacer’s, and the Knights Templar Commandry. He was the Worshipful Master at the Blue Lodge for two years. He was a member of the Audubon Lions Club, the American Legion and VFW in Audubon. Grover was very involved in the Audubon Community. He helped design and install the Veteran’s Memorial, the John James Audubon Clock, and the bird banners along Main Street. In 1998, he received the Audubon Community Service Award. He and Rosalie also helped frame and mount all the pictures in the Old Park Hotel. Preceding him in death were his daughter Peggy Malloy; his parents; his brothers: Fern and wife Elaine Davis; Mark and wife Alice Davis; his brother-in-law: Kennard and wife Virginia Chaney. Survivors include his wife of 68 years Rosalie Davis; his children: Kathleen and husband Mel Malachosky of Keosauqua, Iowa; Tim and wife Tereza Davis of Naples, Florida; his son-in-law Bob Malloy of Carroll, Iowa; his grandchildren: Aaron and wife Evelyn Davis of Orem, Utah; Adam and wife Kristen Davis of Naples, Florida; Kate and husband Jason Parkin of Riverton, Utah; Jason and wife Tina Malloy of Audubon, Iowa; his great grandchildren: Britney Malloy of Atlantic, Iowa; Andrew Malloy, Carmen Malloy, and Danielle Malloy all of Audubon; Alexa Davis and Kaylie Davis both of Naples, Florida; Jaden Parkin and Brooklyn Parkin of Riverton, Utah; his niece Carole Sue Hecker of Minneapolis, Minnesota; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon.

Visitation:
The family will meet friends Sunday evening from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. with a Masonic Service at 5:00 P.M. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon, Iowa.

Service:
Funeral Services will be conducted by Pastor Roger C. Claxton on Monday, March 25, 2013, at 10:30 A.M. at the First Presbyterian Church in Audubon, Iowa.
