Hilda Johanna Borkowski

Hilda Johanna Borkowski, the daughter of Gustav F. and Maria Biastoch Borkowski, was born May 15, 1913, at her parents home near Gray, Iowa and died November 24, 2009, at the Friendship Home in Audubon, Iowa at the age of 96 years, 6 months, and 9 days.
Hilda was baptized June 22, 1913, and confirmed April 1, 1928, at Trinity Lutheran Church northwest of Gray. She attended Trinity Lutheran Church Parochial School and then worked for other families.
On December 2, 1936, she was untied in marriage to Walter Ludwig Borkowski at Trinity Lutheran Church near Gray. Seven children were born to this union. Hilda helped Walter farm, cleaned houses for other people, and did wallpapering. They farmed until 1969 when they moved into Audubon. Walter died December 7, 1976. Hilda continued her cleaning and wallpapering business and also worked at Jungs Bakery for many years. Later she worked at the Green Thumb until she retired. Hilda shared her home with her son Eldon until she moved to the Friendship Home on March 4, 2009.
Hilda had been a member of Trinity Lutheran Church then later transferred her membership to St. Johns Lutheran Church in Audubon on January 27, 1989. Hilda loved raising flowers, making quilts, and playing cards.
Preceding her in death in addition to her husband Walter were her daughters: Marvel Borkowski in infancy and Loretta Rustvold; her granddaughter: Sara Lyn Borkowski, her daughter-in-law: Marsha Borkowski; her parents; her brothers and sister: Victor Borkowski, Lorena and husband Hilmer Rudolph, and Lester and wife Thelma Borkowski; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in law: Reinhold and wife Lilly Borkowski and Hannah and husband Richard Lehwald.
Survivors include her children: Donna and husband Lloyd Kelly; Eldon Borkowski; Marlys Borkowski and Jim Haskins; James Borkowski, and Dale and wife Delyte Borkowski; her son-in-law: Harold Rustvold all of Audubon; her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandson: Sheryl and Stephen of Cedar Rapids, IA. and their children Ashley and Josh; Sharon and husband Ed Knapp of Polk City, IA. and their children Amanda, Allison, and Emalee; Randy and wife Megan Kelly of Lake View, IA; Brad Borkowski and Kelli Borkowski both of Audubon; Eric Borkowski of Maryville, MO; Adam Borkowski of Audubon; Phillip Rustvold and his children Whitney, Melissa and her son Ryan all of Audubon; Cindy Rustvold and her daughter Stacy of Audubon; Brian and Rene Rustvold of Audubon; Carla and husband Eric Christensen and their children Morgan, Conner, and Braeden all of Audubon; Jana and husband Andre Burnside and their daughter Bennett all of Kansas City, Mo. and Lindsey and husband Ryan Venteicher of Shellsburg, Iowa; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon.

Visitation:
The family will meet with friends Sunday evening at 6:00 P.M. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon.

Service:
Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Bradley Ketcham on Monday, November 30, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Audubon.
