Imo Beecher

Imo Irene Gallaway Emgarten Conrad Beecher, 85, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Saturday, September 9, 2017, at Salem Lutheran Home in Elk Horn, Iowa.

Imo was born April 15, 1932, in Nebraska, to Bill and Claris (McCall) Gallaway. She grew up in Adair, Iowa, graduating from the Adair High School. In 1951, Imo married Carl Conrad. They lived in Des Moines where she worked at Armstrong Tire. In 1982, Imo married Dean E. Beecher. They lived in Anita where she worked at the White Front Cafe. After moving to Atlantic, Imo worked at DeLong Sportswear.

She was a member of the American Legion Axillary in Anita and several bowling leagues.

Imo enjoyed bowling, bingo, camping, fishing and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Carl Conrad and Dean Beecher; a daughter, Patti Flander; a great-granddaughter, Emma; three brothers, William, Leo, Jerry and 2 sisters, Bethene and Opal.

Imo is survived by her children, Peggy Ann (Randy) Clark of Atlantic, IA and Rodney (Alicia) Conrad of Austin, TX; a son-in-law, Jim Flander of Pleasantville, IA; 12 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, September 14, 2017, at Hockenberry Family Care Funeral Home in Atlantic with burial in Evergreen Cemetery in Anita at a later date.

Memorials may be left to the family’s wishes to be designated at a later date.
