Ivyn Lund

Ivyn Lee Lund, 71, of Anita, Iowa passed away Tuesday, August 26, 2014, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
He was born on the family farm north of Anita April 8, 1943, to George and Bertha (Bauer) Lund. Ivyn grew up and spent his entire life in Anita. He attended country school near Anita, graduating from Anita High School in 1961.

Ivyn was confirmed June 9, 1957, at the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Anita where he was a lifelong member.

Ivyn was married in 1963 to Nancy Andresen. To this union four children were born, Ivyn Jr. "Butch", Loryn, Nyle and Karyl. In 1987 he married Sandee O'Neal bringing with her two daughters, Jean and Julie. On February 14, 2009, he was united in marriage to Melva Walters at their home in Anita adding four children, Robert, Ronee, Rochelle and Rush in to his family.

He farmed in rural Anita until he became an over-the-road truck driver in 1987. Ivyn took great pride hauling many unique and oversized items such as the Rathbun excursion boat the "Princess" and the Kirkwood College Rock. In 2010, he and Melva purchased the M & I Weather-Vane Café in Anita. There he kept himself busy as the "Big Boss" and the head potato peeler. He took pleasure in catfishing, gambling, hunting, gardening, bargain shopping and canning.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Bertha Lund; his sister, Norma Jean Pedersen; brother-in-law, Lloyd Pedersen; sister-in-law, Marsha Hartman; and niece, Michaela Walters.

Ivyn is survived by his wife, Melva Lund of Anita, Iowa; 10 children, Ivyn "Butch" (Mona) Lund Jr. of Adel, IA, Loryn Lund of Cumberland, IA, Nyle Lund of Anita, IA, Karyl (David) Bohnsack of Iowa City, IA, Jean (Wylie Wahlert) Jessen of Anita, IA, Robert (Chrissy) Possehl of Virginia Beach, VA, Julie (Scott) Hammer of Cherryvale, KS, Ronee (James) Norris of Parma, OH, Rochelle Possehl of Anita, IA and Rush (Anne) Possehl of Virginia Beach, VA; 27 grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Ashleigh, Kassidy, Jackson, Ivyn III "Sammy", Brodryck, Madelyn, Justin, Ashley, Kaleb, Isabelle, Zachary, Helen, Peyton, Gavyn, Cassandra, Matthew, Brianna, Ethan, Bryce, Kyra, Annabel, Owen, Cody, Andrew, Liam and Kayla; two great-grandchildren, Wesley and Jace; his brother, Arlyn (Marge) Lund of Anita, IA; his mother-in-law, Nina Walters of Anita, IA; sister-in-law, Mardell (Chuck) Peek of Oakland, IA; brother-in-law, Galen (Deb) Walters of Anita, IA; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, August 29, 2014, from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. at Hockenberry Family Care Funeral Home in Anita, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 30, 2014, at 10:30 a.m., at the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Anita, Iowa, with interment in Evergreen Cemetery, Anita.

Lunch will be served at the Anita Community Center following the interment service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be made to the family for later designation.
