Jack Fulk

Jack Willard Fulk, 86, of Anita, Iowa, passed away of a broken heart Tuesday, February 10, 2015, at Caring Acres Nursing and Rehab Center in Anita, Iowa.

Jack was born July 26, 1928, in Shambaugh, Iowa, to John Isaac and Eva Gertrude (Mulkins) Fulk. He grew up in the Clarinda area and attended school through the 8th grade. Jack was married to Emogene Arlene Sims on July 7, 1946, in Troy, Kansas. When they were first married, Jack worked for Erwin Gertz at Clarinda. He farmed for two years at Tabor, Iowa, then worked for Paul Mueller in Yorktown, Iowa, for three years. In 1955, they moved from the Clarinda area to Anita, where he worked for Burke Brothers until his retirement. After retiring, he worked for Mark Brown, Larry Wedemeyer and the Massena Sale Barn.

Jack was a member of the Anita United Methodist Church, the Knights of Pythians, the Anita Fire Department, an Anita City Councilman, Anita Lions Club and a member of area Saddle Clubs. Jack never met a stranger that he did not like as he had a gift of gab, and he loved horses, trail rides and rat terriers. His greatest joy was his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Eva Fulk; his wife Emogene on December 15, 2014; son, Roscoe (Rocky); brothers, Sterling, Orie, and Bobby; sisters, Ruby and Ruth; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Fulk, Mary Fulk and Lucille Fulk; brothers-in-law, Larry Morelock and Ellsworth (Swede) Parker.

Jack is survived by a son Fred (Ethel) Fulk of St. Joseph, MO; a daughter, Jackie Sander of Anita, IA; grandchildren, Brent (Penny) Fortune of Forbes, MO, Teri Amos of St, Joseph, MO, Chris (Tim) Wahlert of Exira, IA, Alice Pankonen of Atlantic, IA, Doug Pankonen of Shelby, IA, Kelly (Nick) Karns of Leeds, AL, Lindsay Sander of Greenfield, IA, Elizabeth Sander of West Des Moines, IA; great grandchildren, Tracy (David) Winslow of St. Joseph, MO, Tyler (Sara) Fortune of St. Joseph, MO, Dylan Amos of St. Joseph, MO, Breanna Peterson of Exira, IA, Calin Peterson of Exira, IA, Dami Peterson of Exira, IA, Ellie Wahlert of Exira, IA, Bridgett Pankonen of Atlantic, IA, Karlee Parizek of West Branch, IA, Ricky Pankonen of Shelby, IA, Garret Karns and Emma Karns of Leeds, AL; 6 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Earl Fulk of Menlo Park, CA; sister, Grace (Rick) Phair of Redwood City, CA; sisters-in-law, Betty Fulk of Stewartville, MN, and Mary Davis of Clarinda, IA; brothers-in-law, Dennis (Linda) Sims of Anita, IA, and Harold (Edy) Sims of Burlington, IA; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation with family will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, February 13, 2015, at Hockenberry Family Care in Anita, Iowa.

Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 14, 2015, also at Hockenberry Family Care in Anita, Iowa, with burial in the Davis Cemetery in Shambaugh, Iowa.
