James Joy Paige

James Joy Paige, age 55, of Clive, IA, a native of Exira, IA, passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2024, at his home in Clive.

Born in Atlantic, IA, the eldest son of Daniel Joy & Mary Ellen (Savage) Paige. He grew up in Exira, IA and graduated from Exira Junior-Senior High School in 1987 and went on to join the United States Navy straight out of High School. When he returned home, James received his Associates Degree in Science at Des Moines Area Community College in 1995, his Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering at Iowa State University in 1998 and his Doctorate of Law Degree from Drake University Law School in 2001.

James was united in marriage to Lisa Marie Childs in 1996. The couple settled down in Rogers, MN. Where they raised five children, Devon, Kiara, Steffen, Jordon and Ashlyne Paige.

James was an avid sports fan, particularly enjoying football and baseball. Even going on to coach his sons’ sports teams. Later in life he enjoyed participating in CrossFit and dedicated himself to his Faith.

James was united in marriage to Daonnise Rhe Waters in 2020. The two settled down in Clive, IA. Where they bonded over their mutual hobbies, built a successful bakery, and loved their two dogs Ralphie and Blue.

James was preceded in death by his brother Jeffery Joy Paige, his father Daniel Joy Paige, his step-father Jerry Lee Johnson, and his grandparents.

He leaves behind his wife Daonnise Rhe Paige of Clive, IA, his mother Mary Ellen Johnson of Exira, IA, his sister Kara Marie (Marvin) VanEaton of Omaha, NE, his brother Dana J. (Lacey) Hess of Omaha, NE; his children, Devon James Paige of Minneapolis, MN, Kiara Monique Paige of St. Paul, MN, Steffen James (Nhi) Paige of Urbandale, IA, Jordon Jeffery Paige of Boone, IA, and Ashlyne Nicole (Braden) Patterson of Madrid, IA; his step-son Latavion Reed of West Des Moines, IA; his grandchildren Nevaeh Marie Paige and KayDen Lamar Walker of St. Paul, MN, Elias Joel Patterson and Finnley Daniel Patterson of Madrid, IA, and Samuel Lê Paige of Urbandale, IA; as well as many other aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 23, 2024, at Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Exira, IA. Following the funeral, interment will take place at Exira Cemetery with military honors from the United States Navy Funeral Honors and the Exira American Legion Ballou Post #332.

Visitation will be held one hour before the funeral at the Exira Funeral Home on Monday.
