James Lee Haskins

James Lee Haskins, the son of Lyle and Mae Elsworth Haskins, was born August 25, 1934, at his parents home in Scranton, Iowa and died December 18, 2009, at the Audubon County Memorial Hospital in Audubon, Iowa at the age of 75 years, 3 months, and 23 days.
Jim was baptized at the Audubon Christian Church. He attended school in Gray, Iowa then worked for several different farmers in the area. He bailed hay for John Wanniger and later sacked corn for the Carlson Seed Company.
In 1957, Jim enlisted in the U.S. Army. During his tour of duty, he served as a supply truck driver and was stationed in Germany. Following his discharge from the service, he returned to Audubon and drove truck for H.P. Jorgensen. Later, Jim, drove trucks over the road for several different trucking companies. These companies included, Crouse Carriers, D.R. Burger, and ArGee trucking companies. Jim retired from trucking and then worked for Lloyd Kelly maintaining the local cemeteries. After Lloyd sold his business, Jim spent many hours playing golf and fishing. Jim enjoyed gardening and always had a large vegetable garden. He was well known for his delicious produce and enjoyed canning the fruits of his labor.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his brother and sisters: Donald Dean Haskins, Marilyn and husband Robert Hite, Janice and husband Echo Raysack, and Anna Lou Daringer; his in-laws: Walter and wife Hilda Borkowski; and his sisters-in-law: Loretta Rustvold and Marsha Borkowski.
Survivors include his wife: Marlys Borkowski Haskins of Audubon; his brothers and sister: Darwin and wife Reva Haskins of Manning, IA, Ruth Rockwell of DeSoto, IA, John Haskins of Audubon, and Carl Haskins of Exira, IA; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Donna and husband Lloyd Kelly, Eldon Brokowski, Harold Rustvold, James Borkowski, Dale and wife Delyte Borkowski all of Audubon; Carrol Daringer of Whitney, TX; Clint Haskins of Audubon, Matt Haskins of Council Bluffs, IA, Dusty and wife Amy Haskins of Gray, IA; several other nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon.

Visitation:
The family will meet friends Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon.

Service:
Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Dwaine Simonsen on Monday, December 21, 2009, at 2:30 P.M. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon,Iowa.
