Janet Carolyn Williams

Janet Carolyn (Black) Williams was born on March 11, 1935, to Everett and Clarice (Clemmensen) Black, on her family farm in Audubon, Iowa. She passed away on May 10, 2020 with her family at her side at the age of 85 years and 2 months.

Janet was a lifetime member of the First Presbyterian Church in Audubon, Iowa. There, she was baptized, confirmed, and served as a deacon. She attended Audubon Community Schools, graduating with the class of 1953, where she was crowned Homecoming Queen her senior year.

On August 18, 1954, she was united in marriage to Bob L. Williams. They were blessed with five children: Randy, Roxane, Angie, Jodi, and Rod. Bob and Janet owned and operated Williams Truck Line. They enjoyed camping, boating, and traveling with their children, grandchildren, and close friends. Family and friends were the utmost of importance to Bob and Janet.

After Bob passed away, Janet enjoyed traveling and gambling with many of her girlfriends. One of Janet’s joys in life was spending time with her grandkids. She could regularly be found attending their sporting events and school activities. She loved that her grandkids’ friends considered her “grandma” too. Her home was always open, refrigerator always stocked, and the candy dish full.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; her parents, Everett and Clarice Black; her brother, Roland Black; her son-in-law, Phil DuVall; her parents-in-law, Walt and Ruby Williams; sister-in-law, Janice Black; brothers-in-law, Bud Barger and Larry Anderson; nephew, Brett Black; and niece, DeEtte McCaw.

She is survived and loved by her children: Randy (Joan) Williams of Omaha, Nebraska; Roxane (Steve) Hoyle of Audubon; Angie (Kurt) Wanninger of Carmel, Indiana; Jodi (John) Irlmeier of Anita, Iowa; and Rod (Angie) Williams of Audubon; grandchildren: Michelle (Chad) Schneiss, Stacie (Chad) Dreyer, Tiffany (Tim) Page, Josh Williams, Jessica (Philip) DiGiovanni, Caleb (Courtney) Williams, Justin (Hillori) Wanninger, Kyle (Megan) Irlmeier, Ryan Wanninger, Cody (Brittni) Williams, Randi (Grant) Schmitz, Taryn Wanninger, Jake (fiancé Kyra) Williams, Taylor (Derek) Tessman, Amber (Austin) Fabian; great-grandchildren: Alexia and Collin Schneiss, Charli and William Dreyer, Ava and Addison Page, Preslee and Kinley Williams, Mila DiGiovanni, Paxton and Stella Williams, Rhett Wanninger, Aniston and Brant Irlmeier, Ryker and Bennett Williams, Ellie and Lincoln Schmitz, Weston Williams, Tate Tessman, and Waylon and Landry Fabian; her sister, Donna Barger of Des Moines, Iowa; her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Rosalie and Jerry Jensen of Hamlin, Iowa; Roger and Sally Williams of Spirit Lake, Iowa; and Jan and Laverne Jensen of Panora, Iowa; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2020 at 1:00 P.M. at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon, Iowa with Pastor Kelley Pedersen officiating. Inurnment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the Audubon Fire Department.
