Janice Ellen Swesey

Janice Ellen Swesey, the daughter of Alfred and Marie Berg Winther, was born February 12, 1939 at her parents home west of Audubon, Iowa and died April 28, 2008 at Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa at the age of 69 years, 2 months and 16 days.
  Janice was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviours Lutheran Church in Audubon.  She attended rural school at Lone Willow, Douglas Township #6, then graduated from the Audubon High School with the Class of 1957.  She moved to Minneapolis, MN and attended the college of medical technology and graduated as a laboratory technician.  She was employed in Harlan, IA at Myrtue Memorial Hospital.
  In April 2, 1960 she was united in marriage to Harold Swesey Jr., at Our Saviours Lutheran Church in Audubon. They lived in Harlan, Council Bluffs, IA, Lincoln, IL, before settling in Centerville, IA.  Janice was employed as a lab tech in all these communities.  She returned to Audubon, in the early 1990s then moved to Carroll, IA, in 2000. Janice enjoyed swimming and golfing. She loved to entertain guests and was a good cook.  She enjoyed ceramic painting and growing flowers, gardening.
  Preceding her in death were: her grandson, Zachery Neitzel and her father, Alfred Winther.
  Survivors include her children: Mike and wife Marla Swesey, Patty Cran, Leanne and husband Dennis Cortesio, and Jennifer Neitzel, her eight grandchildren, one great granddaughter, her mother: Marie Winther; her sisters: Mary Kay and husband Marlin Lewis, Linda and husband Charles Kauffman,  Joanne and husband Gary Bald all of Audubon, IA. and Deanna Kauffman of Estherville, IA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The casket bearers will be nephews: Jim Lewis, Bob Lewis, Steve Lewis, Chris Kauffman, Nick Kauffman, Dan Bald, Jeff Bald, Erik Madsen and Matt Madsen.

Cemetery:
Interment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery, in Audubon, Iowa.

Visitation:
The family will meet friends Thursday afternoon from 1:00 PM until time of service at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon, IA.

Service:
Funeral services will be Thursday, May 1, 2008 at 2:00 PM. at Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon. Pastor Barb Christensen officiating.
