Jeanette Schrum

Jeanette Mary Obermeier was born December 4, 1928, to Frank Xavier and Catherine Marie (Bahlman) Obermeier and passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2013, at the Exira Care Center in Exira Iowa.

She attended kindergarten at a country school in Carroll County and then attended Catholic School in Templeton. The family moved to a farm 5 miles east of Audubon in 1941, then Jeanette attended country school in Audubon County.

On November 25, 1950, Jeanette married Delmas Russell Schrum at the Little Brown Church in the Vale near Nashua, Iowa. They farmed in Audubon County for 23 years then moved to her current home in Atlantic in 1973. Jeanette cleaned at the A-Ford-O Motel and Henningson's Locker and provided child care in her home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Delmas Schrum; her grandson, Steven Schrum; her parents, Frank and Catherine Obermeier; her daughter-in-law, Christy Schrum; her brothers, Donald Obermeier, LeRoy Obermeier and LaVern Obermeier; her brother-in-law, Harry Williamson; and her nephews, Paul Obermeier and Donnie Obermeier.

Jeanette is survived by her children, Darwin (Lavonne) Schrum of Wilton, IA, Darrell (Lily) Schrum of Wheaton, IL, Duane (Teresa) Schrum of Broken Arrow, OK, Donis Schrum-Christensen of Atlantic, IA, Douglas (Joan) Schrum of Marion, IA and David Schrum of Omaha, NE; her grandchildren, Shella Schrum of Romeoville, IL, Shane Schrum of Burlington, KS, Nicholette (Adam) Stotler of Plano, IL, Norilyn (Tela) Alloso Chhe of Aurora, IL, Nolissa Alloso Chhe of Wheaton, IL, Joshua Schrum, Jonathan Schrum and Joslin Schrum all of Wheaton, IL, Monica Brewer, Matthew Brewer and Mark Clason all of Atlantic, IA, Skyler Schrum and Carly Schrum both of Marion, IA and Nathan Schrum and Seth Schrum of Omaha, NE; her great-grandchildren, Ellianna, Mercedez, Savannah and Trinity of Plano, IL, Kaiden and Kailyn of Aurora, IL and Maleyah of Wheaton, IL and Riley Beth of Broken Arrow, OK; her brother, Frank (Betty) Obermeier of Audubon, IA; her sister, Darlene Williamson of Audubon, IA; her sisters-in-law, Jean Obermeier and Bev Obermeier both of Audubon, IA and Rosalie Obermeier of Wiota, IA; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Visitation will be held Saturday, December 7, 2013, from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. with the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Lunch will be served following the funeral service in the Hockenberry community room. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. in the Manning Cemetery in Manning, Iowa.
