Jeff Gerard Riesberg, the son of Harold and Illa Mae Reis Riesberg, was born July 9, 1966, at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Carroll, Iowa and died March 27, 2014, at his home in Audubon, Iowa at the age of 47 years, 8 months, and 18 days. Jeff was baptized and confirmed at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Halbur, Iowa. He attended St. Augustine Parochial School in Halbur, Iowa then graduated from the Carroll High School with the Class of 1985. Jeff was employed in general maintenance in Carroll, Iowa and Kansas City, Missouri before coming to Audubon where he was the maintenance director at the Friendship Home in Audubon for the past 5 years. Jeff enjoyed all the employees at the Friendship Home but especially enjoyed all the residents. Jeff was a member of the Audubon Chamber of Commerce. He enjoyed camping, playing corn bags, and watching the Dr. Who program on T.V. on Saturday nights. Jeff also loved to ride his motorcycle. His motto was “JUST LAUGH.” Preceding him in death were his father Harold Riesberg; his brother Jack Riesberg; his paternal grandparents Jack (John) and Carmalita Riesberg; his maternal grandparents Joe and Caroline Reis; other aunts, uncles, and cousins. Survivors include his fiancé Donna Parrish of Audubon, Iowa; his mother Illa Mae Riesberg of Halbur, Iowa; his brothers and sisters: Becky and husband Bill Ocker of Lincoln, Nebraska; Barb and husband Steve Willenborg of Manning, Iowa; Janet and husband Lee Wiederien of Des Moines, Iowa; Joe and wife Kim Riesberg of Pocatello, Idaho; Jay and wife Carrie Riesberg of Carroll, Iowa; his nieces and nephews: Andrew and wife Holly Ocker; Jessie and McKenzie Ocker; Brett, Cody, Austin, and Zach Willenborg; Nicole and husband Drew Sellner; Brandon Wiederien; Bailee Riesberg; Levi and Justin Riesberg; Kylie Swinney; Donna’s brothers and sisters: DeLynne Clausen of Omaha, Nebraska; Bev and husband Don Nepple of Carroll; Bill and wife Jennifer Wiederien of Carroll; Ron and wife Kay Wiederien of Wichita, Kansas; Leo and wife Janet Wiederien of Des Moines; Donna’s children: Jennifer Nees and Keith Davis both of Newington, Connecticut; Jason and wife Amie Nees of Lee Summit, Missouri; Brad and wife Heather Nees of Ft. Campbell, Kentucky; 4 grandsons; 2 granddaughters; other relatives and friends.
Cemetery:
Interment will be in the St. Augustine Catholic Cemetery in Halbur.
Visitation:
The family will meet with friends Sunday afternoon from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon and Monday morning from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the service at the St. Augustine Catholic Church in Halbur.
Service:
Mass of the Christian Burial will be conducted by Father Steven Brodersen on Monday, March 31, 2014, at 10:30 A.M. at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Halbur, Iowa.
