Jessie June Ankeny

November 30, 1925 — December 10, 2008

Jessie June Ankeny, the daughter of Thomas and Ethel (Rice) Spillman, was born November 30, 1925, at her parents home in Mc Fall, Missouri and died December 10, 2008, at the Audubon County Memorial Hospital at the age of 83 years and 10 days.
Jessie was baptized in a Methodist Church. She attended Mc Fall Community Schools graduating with the High School Class of 1949. Jessie then moved to Des Moines, Iowa where she lived with her sister and was employed at a bank.
On June 11, 1950, she was united in marriage to Dr. John Earl Ankeny, Jr. at the Grace Methodist Church in Des Moines. They lived in Des Moines while John finished his internship then on July 3, 1951, they moved to Exira, Iowa. Jessie was a homemaker for many years but later on was the office manager at Dr. Ankenys Medical Office. They retired in 1986. During retirement they enjoyed spending time at their summer cottage on Spirit Lake. John died June 27, 1998. Jessie enjoyed her home. In 2004 she moved to the Exira Care Center.
Jessie was a member of the Exira Christian Church and was a member of the Christian Womens Fellowship. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Exodus Chapter 313, Exira, Iowa, and had served as the Worthy Matron.
The family appreciates all the care Jessie received at the Exira Care Center.
Preceding her in death in addition to her husband Dr. John E. Ankeny, Jr.; were her parents; and her brother and sisters.
Survivors include her children: Dr. J.W. Bill and Kari Ankeny of Johnston, Iowa; Beth Ankeny and husband Bill Johnson of Parker, Colorado; her grandchildren: John Ankeny of Keystone, Colorado; Elizabeth Ankeny of Chicago, Illinois; Jessica Johnson and David Johnson both of Parker, Colorado; and a very close friend Dorine Koob of Brayton, Iowa and many friends.

Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Exira Cemetery in Exira.

Visitation:
Friends may call at their convenience at the Kessler Funeral Home in Exira.

Service:
Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Robert Hennick on Monday, December 15, 2008 at 10:30 A.M. at the Exira Christian Church in Exira.
