John W. Brincks, 89, of Anita, Iowa, passed away early Friday morning April 30, 2010, at Colonial Manor in Anita.
John William Brincks was born June 14, 1920, in Carroll, Iowa, the son of John B. Brincks and Anna (Reineke) Brincks. He attended school in Carroll. John was a WWII veteran serving in the Army for 3 ½ years. During that time he served in the European Theater, including the Battle of the Bulge.
After returning home, John worked for the railroad and started farming near Carroll. In 1959 he bought a farm in Adair County. Then in 1965 John married Theresa Gubbels at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Westphalia, Iowa. The couple raised their children on the farm near Adair and continued farming the land until John's retirement. They remained there until recent health problems necessitated John's move to Colonial Manor.
John was a long time member of St. John's Catholic Church in Adair, Iowa. He loved farming, had a deep faith, and was a simple honest family man who relished every opportunity to see his grandchildren playing.
Preceding John in death were his parents; his daughter, Jana Brincks; 3 sisters, Mrs. Lawrence (Maria) Gute, Mrs. Henry (Coletta) Soppe and Mrs. George (Louise) Hoffman; and 2 brothers, Joe Brincks and Andy Brincks.
Surviving John are his wife, Theresa Brincks of Anita, IA; the three boys, Gail Brincks, wife Annie, and their two boys, Logan and Luke, all of Adair, Iowa, Dennis Brincks, wife Shanna, and their children, Brayden and Brylie, all of Rosendale, Missouri, and Dan Brincks of LaCresent, Minnesota; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 3, 2010, at St. John's Catholic Church in Adair, Iowa. Visitation will be Sunday, May 2nd, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:30 at Hockenberry Funeral Home in Adair, Iowa. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Adair, Iowa. The family invites you to lunch and fellowship in the church parish center following the committal service.
In lieu of flowers the family is asking memorials in support of the Adair Fire and Rescue, Adair, Iowa.
