Julie Ann Christensen, the daughter of Leroy H. and Nadine (Olson) Christensen, was born September 19, 1966, and died December 31, 2019, at her home in Urbandale, Iowa at the age of 53 years, 3 months, and 12 days.
Julie was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Audubon, Iowa. She attended the Audubon Community Schools graduating with the High School Class of 1985. She studied at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa where she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science. Julie then was employed in the Mortgage Department at Meredith Bank and later at Wells Fargo in Des Moines, Iowa. In 2001 she moved to Dallas, Texas to escape the cold Iowa weather. Julie was employed as a Mortgage Underwriter for several different Mortgage Companies and banks. In 2016 she returned to Iowa to be closer to her family. She resided in Urbandale, Iowa where she worked for a mortgage company.
Julie was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Audubon, a member of the church choir, and participated in Luther League. While in High School she participated in band, chorus, and 4-H. Julie always had a love for animals and made her home with a cat and three dogs.
Preceding her in death was her father Leroy H. Christensen; her grandparents: Henry and Marie Christensen and Lynn and Wilma Olson; and her uncles Rick Olson and Willis Olson.
Survivors include her mother Nadine Christensen of Audubon, Iowa; her brother Doug Christensen of Guthrie Center, Iowa; and her sister Jana Christensen-Bauman and her husband Anthony of Hickman, Nebraska; her nieces and nephews: Brandi Williams of Richman, Texas, Sami and husband Mike Burmeister of Coon Rapids, Iowa, Alex and husband Thomas Tatro of Ramsey, Minnesota, Seth Christensen of Panora, Iowa, Sean Christensen of Avoca, Iowa, Jordan Christensen and Shaye Christensen both of Guthrie Center, Heather and husband Travis Kelley of Omaha, Nebraska, Brice and wife Holly Schuldt of Eagle, Nebraska, and Whitney and husband Elias Galvan of Omaha, Nebraska; several great nieces and great nephews, other relatives and many friends.
The family will meet with friends Sunday afternoon, January 5, 2020, from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon, Iowa. Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Ben Unseth on Monday morning, January 6, 2020, at 10:30 a.m. at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Audubon, Iowa. Interment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon. The honorary casket bearers will be Sami Burmeister, Shaye Christensen, Heather Kelley, Whitney Galvan, Annette Hacker, Jana Lloyd, Brandi Williams, and Alex Tatro. The casket bearers will be Seth Christensen, Sean Christensen, Jordan Christensen, Brice Schuldt, Travis Kelley, Elias Galvan, and Mike Burmeister.
