Julie Nadine Hansen

Julie Nadine Hansen, the daughter of Richard H. and Norma Berniece (Lange) Nelson, was born June 12, 1954, at the Audubon County Memorial Hospital in Audubon, Iowa and died May 29, 2014, at her home in Davenport, Iowa at the age of 59 years, 11 months, and 17 days. Julie was baptized and confirmed at the Elk Horn Lutheran Church in Elk Horn, Iowa. She attended Elk Horn Community Schools graduating with the High School Class of 1972. In August of 1972, she was united in marriage to Victor Hansen at the Elk Horn Lutheran Church in Elk Horn, Iowa. One son Justin was born to this union. Julie received a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Psychology from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa in 1976. Julie then was employed at Woodward State Hospital for several years. In February of 1985, they moved to Houston, Texas and worked at J.W. Lighting in procurement. In 1987, they moved to Austin, Texas and was the 879th employee of Dell Computers. She started in customer care then through promotions became a project manager. She worked for Dell until 2000. In 2006, she returned to the Elk Horn, Iowa area and was employed at Lincoln Financial in Omaha, Nebraska then worked at J.C. Sterling in Harlan, Iowa for several years. Julie returned to school to study mortuary science. During this period she was an intern at Kessler Funeral Homes, Inc. in Audubon and Exira. In 2011, she worked for Iowa Hospice then later moved to Davenport, Iowa and worked for Heartland Hospice. She was planning on moving to Austin, Texas. Julie enjoyed spending time with her family. One her favorite places was spending time at Lake Travis near Austin. Survivors include her son Justin and wife Robyn Hansen of Austin, Texas; her granddaughter Bailee King of Austin; her loving companion Bleu; her parents Richard H. and Norma Nelson of Elk Horn, Iowa; her brother Ned Nelson of Council Bluffs, Iowa; her sister Natalie Nelson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; niece, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Cemetery:
Inurnment will be in the Elk Horn Lutheran Cemetery in Elk Horn.

Service:
Celebration of life graveside memorial services will be conducted by Pastor Keith Mentor on Thursday, June 5, 2014, at 2:30 P.M. at the Elk Horn Lutheran Cemetery in Elk Horn, Iowa.
