Katherine Lea Cole

Katherine Lea Cole, the daughter of Fred and Iola (Andersen) Cole, was born October 20, 1962, in Orange, California and died October 20, 2014, at the Audubon County Memorial Hospital in Audubon, Iowa at the age of 52 years.
Katherine was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church. She attended Elementary School and Junior High School in Orange County, California and then graduated from the Evergreen High School in Evergreen, Colorado with the Class of 1980. Following High School, Katherine was employed in various jobs for several years.
In mid-1984, she met Paul Mormann and they have remained together for over 30 years. They had two daughters Rachael and Zoe. They lived in the Denver, Colorado area for many years. Katherine was a waitress for a short time then became a home maker taking care of Paul and the children. In December of 2006, they moved to Audubon, Iowa to help care for her father Fred Cole. Their daughter Zoe died in February of 1998 which encouraged Katherine to initiate an online business where she created anniversary cards of remembrance for the loss of loved ones. She has grown and operated her business for many years.
Katherine enjoyed antiquing and especially enjoyed anything which had to do with the 1950’s and the 1960’s. She enjoyed knitting, cooking, and watching movies. But her greatest passion was caring for her family and helping others.
Katherine was preceded in death by her daughter Zoe Dylan Mormann and her parents Fred and Iola Cole.
Survivors include her husband Paul Mormann of Audubon, Iowa; her daughter Rachael Mormann of Yakima, Washington; her brothers Gregory H. Cole of Sioux City, Iowa and Ken and wife Diane Cole and their children Mattie and Samuel all of Denver, Colorado; her sister-in-law Patty Krangle of Denver, Colorado; other relatives and many friends.
The family is planning a private Celebration of Life Memorial Service at a later date.
